Fort Walton Beach is worth the drive. The beaches are AMAZING.
Whitney
Carolyn I ended up getting too antsy waiting for the post to be approved, and booking for Panama beach, we’re going to opt for Key West instead! But good to know for next time
thank you!
Alice
Whitney key west is amazing - the food and scenery to die for enjoy ! We stayed at the perry and cannot wait to go back !
Chris
Two weeks isn't long enough
Deb
We flew into Orlando, rented a van and did exactly that...west side, Keys, everglades, Gulf Coast flying back out of Orlando. 12 days. 4 Weeks would have been great but it is what it is. Coconut onion rings (like coconut shrimp) at a pub in Key Largo - the manatees came right up to the dock there, about 4 ft. away. Ice Bar in Orlando, air boat tour in the everglades. Disneyworld of course, we were there 2 days. Harbour tour in Miami was really fun too
Deb
Oh my gosh, I forgot - the Coconut Lime Beer at the Islamorada Beer Company is amazing!
Whitney
Deb amazing thank you so much for all of this! Of course I wish I could stay longer but honestly if I did, I would’ve flown into Houston so we could fit in Texas and New Orleans too, Lol
Deb
Whitney we just discovered flying in and driving a whole state when we did Florida. Florida was so much fun we decided to drive the state of New Mexico in May for 10 days. So excited! Did our research and think 10 days is fine for what we want to see and do.
Chris
You are cramming ALOT into two weeks. You will spend most of your tropical beach vacation in the van trying to race from place to place to see it all. No relaxing, no sun...just dashboard and windshield. There is so much to see! You will want to stop 827 times! You won't get to thoroughly see any of it cuz you'll feel rushed to move along.
Whitney
Chris We don’t plan on stopping everywhere, it’s a rough plan as I mentioned..It sounds like you would be very surprised on how we can coordinate driving with plans into the time we have when we travel! Of course I wish I could stay longer…But I’m thankful for the time I do have off work, and we will make the most of it! As for your presumptuous comments on how you think our trip will go, I will be sure to prove you wrong
Positive vibes
Chris
I didn't mean to sound negative - just trying to give some input from someone who has spent alot of time there. You do you! Enjoy!

Hello fellow travellers! Looking for some recommendations for my Florida trip coming up. I’ll be flying down to Panama Beach, and meeting up with my partner in our travelling van
, we are planning on doing the coastline of Florida for just over 2 weeks.
Rough plan is to drive the coastline starting from west side down to the Keys (if we can find a place to park/camp
) then back up the east coast and fly out of Orlando. We plan on doing Disneyworld for a couple days, and, of course a few lazy beach days, but we also love hiking and outdoor adventures! (Any good good winery/brewery recommendations?
) If you have any noteworthy places you love there please let me know; we’d like to get in as much as possible on this amazing trip!
Thank you in advance
