What are the Must-See Spots in Tofino?

Question:

Anyone who's been to Tofino, do you have any recommendations of places in or near Tofino that one should go? For example: good hikes, activities, places to eat/drink, hidden gems, places to visit on the drive to and from the ferry, etc.
Will be going over in less than 2 weeks and figured any extra information that google doesn't talk about is always appreciated
Thanks!

If you haven't been to Goats on the Roof in Coombs, it is a good stop on the way. Just off Highway 4, about 5 minutes. Cute shops, good donuts, interesting market etc. And a few goats on the roof too!

Doughnuts from the market bakery? It’s been a while for me but I’m always interested in doughnuts. Will hop in the next time I’m in the area. I normally buy a loaf of bread and grab ice cream for the kids.

San there is a donut shop there, a door or two from the market. Sometimes they line up for them. They're good!

Last year my wife and I took surfing lessons. We're in our mid sixties and never quite got the hang of standing up, but had a blast nonetheless! Also, a kayak tour to Meares Island was well worth it. We splurged and took a float plane to Tofino from downtown Vancouver, the views are spectacular and when you do the math not so much more than taking the ferry, plus way faster! We had no problem walking everywhere but there is a taxi service.

Alan also loved the kayak to Meares, so beautiful and such a great way to spend a few hours

If you are a hiker. Do the Canso Pane Crash trail. The ww2 plane is mainly intact and the trail is a decent hike though muddy if it has rained. If you want to try surfing Tofino has excellent learn to surf places for all skill levels.

Elle the Zed hotel was interesting inside. We were in Tofino at Easter and they hosted an Easter Egg Hunt, so we had the opportunity to look around. VW van made out of driftwood out back, cool hot tub in the woods etc. I've heard since the restaurant is good there too.

Riders Pizza in Cumberland. It’s a little bit of a detour, but it’s the best pizza on the island in my opinion. My husband and I will do whatever we can to go there when we’re up island. Cumberland itself is also super cute.

FYI the Hotsprings are still closed, and so is the trail to Schooner Cove. If you have bikes, or rent them, the path all the way from one end of Pacific Rim National Park to the other is a pretty cool ride. It has been raining for months here so if you are doing the bomber hike, bring boots! It's muddy!! The Whale and Bear watching tours are all back in full swing! The Whale Centre is a good company! A LOT of the restaurants are short staffed so think ahead when eating!

I recommend Tonquin beach at low tide. So gorgeous!

Profile picture of Kate

Tacofino!! Sooooo good.there is an amazing little bakery in Ucluelet too. And a little restaurant for fish and chips etc that has a little two lane bowling alley all wobbly but totally hilarious in Ucluelet too. And a little aquarium that was pretty hands on. We ended up spending a fair bit of time in Ucluelet as it had lots to do. Torino has sooo many great places to eat though.

Great fish and chips at Big Daddy’s Fish Fry in Tofino. We love the new bike trail that connects Tofino all the way to the south end of the Pacific Rim NP. Rode part way along the beach which was super fun ( Long and Wickininish beaches) . You can rent bikes if you don’t bring your own.

I just got back. Sobo for food and killer Margaritas (and I don’t like Margaritas). It’s only open until 5:00 pm though. Also Wolf in the Fog. Great food but book ahead (like now) or walk in at 5:00 pm or you won’t get in. Rubio for silver jewelry. Fantastic prices and great designs. Tacofino food truck for the BEST tacos. Call ahead or you’ll be waiting for literally an hour. Every beach is amazing but my favourites were Chestermans Beach and Cox Bay… We took a boat to Meares Island and walked the board walk and also took surfing lessons and a paddle boarding tour of Clayoquat Sound. Went to Eucluelet and hiked the Wild Pacific Trail! Enjoy. It is magnificent!
