I really loved tofino brewing though I don’t think it’s a hidden gem. Wolf in the fog restaurant is very nice for a special night out.
Donna
Lyzz make sure you have a reservation at Wolf and fog.
Lyzz
Donna yeah for sure!
Nicole
Chocolate Tofino....lovely shop, friendly staff, and great gelato.
Lila
Nicole, I came here to recommend them too, they are so nice and the chocolate is divine
Leah
Ucluelet's Pacific Trail. Pluvio is in Ukee as well and delicious!
Leanne
Tacofino yummy
Carol
If you haven't been to Goats on the Roof in Coombs, it is a good stop on the way. Just off Highway 4, about 5 minutes. Cute shops, good donuts, interesting market etc. And a few goats on the roof too!
San
Doughnuts from the market bakery? It’s been a while for me but I’m always interested in doughnuts. Will hop in the next time I’m in the area. I normally buy a loaf of bread and grab ice cream for the kids.
Carol
San there is a donut shop there, a door or two from the market. Sometimes they line up for them. They're good!
Carol
San its called Billy G's Donut Shop
Kate
San those doughnuts are sooooo good
Lyndsay
Wolf in the fog for sure (lunch or dinner)..so great. Sobo also.

Canso Plane Crash Hike | Tofino Trails
Alan
Last year my wife and I took surfing lessons. We're in our mid sixties and never quite got the hang of standing up, but had a blast nonetheless! Also, a kayak tour to Meares Island was well worth it. We splurged and took a float plane to Tofino from downtown Vancouver, the views are spectacular and when you do the math not so much more than taking the ferry, plus way faster! We had no problem walking everywhere but there is a taxi service.
Christin
Alan also loved the kayak to Meares, so beautiful and such a great way to spend a few hours
Wendy
If you are a hiker. Do the Canso Pane Crash trail. The ww2 plane is mainly intact and the trail is a decent hike though muddy if it has rained. If you want to try surfing Tofino has excellent learn to surf places for all skill levels.
Sharron
Tofino Brewery is worth a stop. Food truck there that I wish we’d known about.
Brian
I second the recommendation of the Wild Pacific Trail near Ucluelet. It’s a relatively easy walk and it’s gorgeous!
Jessica
Brian I third it!
Kate
Brian yes this a gorgeous spot!
Mary
Walk the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet.
Miriam
Cathedral Grove on the drive before you hit port alberni.
Karen
Boat trip to the hot springs.
Susan
Karen its closed presently I believe.
Diana
Book boat trip up to the Macquinna hot springs…bring a packed lunch and definately water shoes so you don’t slip or hurt your feet getting in. Bonus you see all the whales and sea life on the trip there and back.
Michelle
JEJU Restaurant

Trish
Where are you staying? There’s a beautiful trail from Mackenzie Beach all the way into Tofino. It’s about a 5km walk each way along the water.
Gail
Trish is this trail cycleable?
Trish
Gail no.
Gail
Trish thanks
Alina

Gail

San
Not sure if it’s too late but make reservations for Wolf in the Fog
I always stop at the og Tacofino
Go to the tourist centre to grab maps to pick and choose hikes from. I like the one that starts at Black Rock Resort in Ucluelet
Suzanne
On the way stop in coombs, goats on the roof... Google it. It's totally worth the stop.
Lisa
Book early! We found that lots of places (eg Wolf in the Fog) were completely booked out!
Black Rock resort in Ukee, if you can get a table with a view
Brunch at the Wick, then walk on the beach
Any of the beaches between Tofino and Ukee
Great hold in the wall pizza place in Ukee
Elle
Shelter restaurant and the dining room at Zed hotel.
Carol
Elle the Zed hotel was interesting inside. We were in Tofino at Easter and they hosted an Easter Egg Hunt, so we had the opportunity to look around. VW van made out of driftwood out back, cool hot tub in the woods etc. I've heard since the restaurant is good there too.
Elle
Carol and it’s dog friendly!
Krista
Carol And they have a ‘secret’ retro games room!
Lorraine
Schooner cove hike down to the ocean used to be beautiful!
Wendy
I really liked the lighthouse hike in Uclulet
Shannon
Chesterman's beach, at low tide you can walk through the caves to a secret beach. Just make sure you're back before the tide comes in.
Candice
Hole in the Wall in Port Alberni on the last hill in from Coombs. By the candy store.
Tonquin and Third Beach trail is nice. Take a picnic and hide from the crowds for a couple hours.
The aquarium in Ucluelet is fun!
Rainforest Trail.
Meares Island is fun. Rent kayaks to go over or go on an organized trip.
Gail

We stayed at Best Western and it loved it!
Great calm beach for paddle boarding - rentals right there also loved being able to have campfires on the beach
Also Lil Ronnies’s BBQ adjacent to property really good food!!!
Christin
Julie pluvio was maybe the coolest dining experience I’ve ever had and the food was incredible. Also recommend if you can book in!
Tamara
Pluvio is amazing!
Carly
The Canso plane crash trail is a great hike. I recommend Rhino Coffee House for breakfast and/or donuts! (On Main Street, very popular, but a good value and filling breakfast before you go off to do activities.)
Janice
Carly Dittonon the plane rash hike.
Susan
Carly was super muddy two weeks ago. Boots for sure.
Carly
Yes, I was there last month and it was very muddy, but perfect for my 8-year-old. We had waterproofs, hiking boots and a good time
Elaine
There is a beautiful beach just outside of the town that is amazing for sunset watching!
Davidnbe
Thank you so much everyone!
Emily
Riders Pizza in Cumberland. It’s a little bit of a detour, but it’s the best pizza on the island in my opinion. My husband and I will do whatever we can to go there when we’re up island. Cumberland itself is also super cute.

Tacofino!!
Holly
FYI the Hotsprings are still closed, and so is the trail to Schooner Cove. If you have bikes, or rent them, the path all the way from one end of Pacific Rim National Park to the other is a pretty cool ride. It has been raining for months here so if you are doing the bomber hike, bring boots! It's muddy!! The Whale and Bear watching tours are all back in full swing! The Whale Centre is a good company! A LOT of the restaurants are short staffed so think ahead when eating!
Liana
I recommend Tonquin beach at low tide. So gorgeous!
Kate
Tacofino!! Sooooo good.there is an amazing little bakery in Ucluelet too. And a little restaurant for fish and chips etc that has a little two lane bowling alley all wobbly but totally hilarious in Ucluelet too. And a little aquarium that was pretty hands on. We ended up spending a fair bit of time in Ucluelet as it had lots to do. Torino has sooo many great places to eat though.
Ellen
Kate Howler"s Family Restaurant! So much fun
Kate
Ellen that’s the one! My youngest loved it there.
Cat
Twin City Brewing in Port Alberni

Cally
Salmon chowder at sobo and we really like the tonquin beach trail up to middle beach
Susan
Great fish and chips at Big Daddy’s Fish Fry in Tofino. We love the new bike trail that connects Tofino all the way to the south end of the Pacific Rim NP. Rode part way along the beach which was super fun ( Long and Wickininish beaches) . You can rent bikes if you don’t bring your own.
Barb
I just got back. Sobo for food and killer Margaritas (and I don’t like Margaritas). It’s only open until 5:00 pm though. Also Wolf in the Fog. Great food but book ahead (like now) or walk in at 5:00 pm or you won’t get in. Rubio for silver jewelry. Fantastic prices and great designs. Tacofino food truck for the BEST tacos. Call ahead or you’ll be waiting for literally an hour. Every beach is amazing but my favourites were Chestermans Beach and Cox Bay… We took a boat to Meares Island and walked the board walk and also took surfing lessons and a paddle boarding tour of Clayoquat Sound. Went to Eucluelet and hiked the Wild Pacific Trail! Enjoy. It is magnificent!
Tracey
Some amazing restaurants in ucluelet. Worth the drive and to see the lighthouse!!
Tamara
Thanks for this post and tips! Hoping to go next weekend so it was helpful!!
Tamara

Lisa
The Shelter Restaurant is amazing, never disappoints
Meaghan

Anyone who's been to Tofino, do you have any recommendations of places in or near Tofino that one should go? For example: good hikes, activities, places to eat/drink, hidden gems, places to visit on the drive to and from the ferry, etc.
Will be going over in less than 2 weeks and figured any extra information that google doesn't talk about is always appreciated
Thanks!
