Hi! I took advantage of the deal to Huatulco, Mexico, I am only doing a short trip from April 18-22, what are the must sees and things that make Huatulco great? I've heard that it feels more authentic then most places in Mexico, which is my only complaint about Mexico, the fact that it's so americanized, so i'm excited! Also what are the taxi fare like? And how are the beaches? I will be staying at Hostal azul y blanco,
Thanks!

Taxis are typically $3 to get around within the area. 7 Tavoli is an amazing outdoor sitting restaurant on the marina which is owned by a family from Naples and is amazing!!! The night tour on the double decker bus is alot of fun. Otherwise take in the beaches.

If you are wanting to go to private beaches that have little authentic restaurants etc, you could taxi to San Augustine or Puerto Angel. Amazing beaches. The town of Mazunte has a turtle sanctuary too. These beaches/towns are all about 1 hour away but worth the trip. I used to have a place outside Huatulco.

Sooo much cheaper then any other town. They don't really barter though. Everyone is super nice, it's the cleanest and safest part of Mexico. I just got back, I went alone.

By the way, Mexico, itself, isn't Americanized...only the larger cities and tourist hotspots...you need to get to some of the smaller pueblos and you get away from all that to experience the real Mexico. Aunque, es mas mejor si habla espanol...that said, even if you try to speak Spanish, locals appreciate it.....

Richard Ewan I was just in Puerto Escondido - stayed at the Swiss Oasis Hotel just off the long surfing beach - Playa Zicatela. I took the ‘thrilling’ mini-bus to PE from Oaxaca, which is a lovely Mexican city.

I just got back from Huatulco, it was my first time there and about the 5th time in Mexico. It was one of my faves. Super safe to leave resort, we took a taxi (in the evenings) to town then walked around there until late at night with zero worries. Taxi was about 50 pesos from resort (dreams) into Santa Cruz & LaCrucecita. I’d recommend seeing both. DEFINITELY have a margarita at Xipol then head next door to LaCrema for the best pizza you’ve ever tasted. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions

Look for the black pottery with holes in it, a specialty of the area. Also in town we watched men weaving hammock. It takes two people three days to create a double hammock, really interesting.
