We went in 2015 my kids were 8 & 10. We are going back for 5 weeks this summer. Chiang Mai is great for elephants which was spectacular, I would do 4 days there and the rest at a beach with a day or 2 in Bangkok.

Yup just came back. Coolest temples were Grand Palace and Wat Arun at bangkok. If your in Chiang Rai the White Temple is unique. If your active, i highly recommend countryside bike tour at Chiang Mai or Sutkovan. Snorkelling is awesome at Emerald Caves near Kho Ngai. Good luck!

My tour group leader set it up. I dont know the name of the excursion. Think they are all competitive. The caves will likely cant swim inside in a few years as the water level is rising . Great experience. Also check out the Royal Creamatorium at bangkok. Its free and honors their beloved king who passed away last year.

Can you recommend a hotel in Chiang Mai or elsewhere you stated at or heard of.
Tari
Chiang Mai Gate Hotel was nice. About 3.5-4 star. Id stay there again
Melissa
Elephant nature park! Super cool experience that I'll NEVER forget. Book immediately!
Jane
Chiang Mai House for your hotel...and their restaurant had possibly the best fried rice we have ever had!

Family-Friendly Activities in Thailand
Traveling to Thailand with your 10 and 8-year-old is sure to be an exciting adventure! Here are some recommendations for family-friendly activities to do during your trip from March 10-25:
1. Visit Elephant Nature Park
Take a trip to the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai where you and your kids can interact with rescued elephants in a responsible and ethical way. You can feed, bathe, and observe these gentle giants up close.
2. Explore the Grand Palace in Bangkok
The Grand Palace is a must-visit attraction in Bangkok. Your kids will be amazed by the stunning architecture, intricate details, and rich history of this iconic landmark.
3. Relax on the Beaches of Phuket
Spend a few days relaxing on the beautiful beaches of Phuket. Let your kids build sandcastles, swim in the clear blue waters, and enjoy some quality family time under the sun.
4. Take a Cooking Class
Sign up for a family-friendly cooking class where you and your kids can learn how to make traditional Thai dishes. It's a fun and interactive way to immerse yourselves in the local culture.
5. Visit the Chiang Mai Night Safari
Experience a unique night safari at the Chiang Mai Zoo where you can see nocturnal animals in their natural habitat. Your kids will love the thrill of spotting wild animals under the moonlight.
These are just a few of the many family-friendly activities you can enjoy in Thailand. Make sure to also sample the delicious street food, explore local markets, and take a boat ride along the floating markets for a truly memorable experience!
