If you’re not picky about what show you see, go to TKTS on the day-of. They sell the seats that haven’t been booked yet in a ton of broadway and off broadway shows. I recommend the location in seaport as it’s generally a little less busy than their Times Square location. They open at 11am,so get there about 1030 to wait in line. The staff are awesome and will help you pick a show while you’re waiting in line. The price will range from $40 (off broadway shows most likely) to upwards of $120 (for more well known shows). Whatever you see will be 100% worth it and amazing!!! Every time I have gone, I’ve seen something I had never heard about, and I always have a great time.
If you’re doing some sightseeing, while you’re in Seaport you can take the Staten Island Ferry (free, 30min each way) for a great view of the Statue of Liberty and NYC coastline.

Tips for Getting Affordable Tickets for Shows in New York City

New York City is a great place to see a show, but tickets can be expensive. If you're on a budget, there are a few things you can do to get affordable tickets.

  1. Buy tickets in advance. The earlier you buy your tickets, the more likely you are to get a good deal. Many shows offer discounts for early bird purchases.
  2. Look for discounts. There are a number of ways to find discounts on Broadway tickets. You can check websites like BroadwayBox and Playbill, or you can sign up for email alerts from your favorite theaters.
  3. Consider off-Broadway shows. Off-Broadway shows are typically cheaper than Broadway shows, and they can be just as good. In fact, some of the best shows in New York City are playing off-Broadway.
  4. Take advantage of student discounts. If you're a student, you can often get discounts on Broadway tickets. Just bring your student ID to the box office.
  5. Go to matinees. Matinee performances are typically cheaper than evening performances. If you're flexible with your schedule, you can save money by seeing a show during the day.
  6. Enter lotteries. Some Broadway shows offer lotteries for a chance to win discounted tickets. To enter a lottery, you typically need to sign up online or in person at the box office.
  7. Stand in line for rush tickets. Some Broadway shows offer rush tickets, which are sold at a discount on the day of the performance. To get rush tickets, you need to line up at the box office early in the morning.

If you follow these tips, you'll be sure to find affordable tickets for shows in New York City.
