Currently based in London and interested in doing a 3/4 night stay in Morocco. Looking for recommendations in which city to visit (Casablanca, Marrakesh, Fez, Tangiers etc) as well as activities and attractions! Thanks!

If you go to Marrakechs and do a 3days/2 night desert tour. You will see a third of the country. Then you can ask to get drop off at Fes for an additional price. Or return to Marrakech for around 80€.

Such a great destination! Marrakech = new/ old city, mazes of markets, access to atlas mountain, ait Ben haddou, merzouga (desert). Essouira = beautiful seaside town, worth a day trip at minimum, mellowness balances out the bigger cities. Chefchouen = beautiful mountain town, picturesque blue buildings everywhere. Fez = lots of history, similar new/ old to Marrakech but on a smaller more accessible scale. Casablanca = noisy, dirty, modern city, would pass on this.
We found the train quite accessible (worth it for first class which made it moderately comfortable). We also ended up taking grand taxis as buses were booked up days in advance. Lots of great hostels (though read reviews for bed bugs). French is widely spoken by locals and tourists but it's worth learning a few Arabic phrases for some bonus points

Marrakech and Fez! Tangier's and Casablanca are more industrial. Rabat is nice too

For a 3-4 night stay, I would say Marrakesh + desert tour. Essouiria, Ait Ben Haddou and Chefchaouen were our other favourites if you prefer to pass on either Marrakesh or desert experience.

A Guide to Marrakech for a 3-4 Night Stay

Marrakech is a vibrant and bustling city in Morocco, and it's the perfect place to experience the country's rich culture and history. With its stunning architecture, delicious food, and friendly people, Marrakech is a city that will stay with you long after you leave.

If you're planning a 3-4 night stay in Marrakech, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, the city can be very hot during the summer months, so it's best to visit in the spring or fall. Second, Marrakech is a popular tourist destination, so it's important to book your accommodation and activities in advance.

Here are a few of the must-see attractions in Marrakech:

  • The Jemaa el-Fnaa is the heart of Marrakech. This bustling square is home to a variety of street performers, food stalls, and shops. It's a great place to people-watch and soak up the atmosphere of the city.
  • The Koutoubia Mosque is one of the most iconic landmarks in Marrakech. This beautiful mosque is a masterpiece of Islamic architecture, and it's a must-see for any visitor to the city.
  • The Bahia Palace is a stunning example of Moroccan architecture. This palace was built in the 19th century, and it's now home to a museum. The palace is a great place to learn about the history of Morocco, and it's also a beautiful place to visit.
  • The Saadian Tombs are the resting place of the Saadian dynasty. These tombs are decorated with intricate tilework and carvings, and they're a fascinating glimpse into the past of Morocco.
  • The Menara Gardens are a beautiful oasis on the outskirts of Marrakech. These gardens are home to a variety of plants and flowers, and they're a great place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

In addition to these attractions, there are a number of other things to do in Marrakech. You can take a cooking class, go on a camel ride, or visit a traditional hammam. There's something for everyone in Marrakech, and you're sure to have a memorable stay.
