I did a really great street art tour in Amman called Underground Amman. I would probably do two days in Petra and get there at opening. Little Petra also worth the visit I think.

Stop in Karak after the Dead Sea en route to Petra and see the castle.

Definitely spend at least few hours at the Dead Sea, but be sure to cover any scratches with vaseline and *do not* shave before going in the water or you'll regret it. Agreed that at least two days at Petra is a good idea, and about the same for Wadi Rum - there's good hiking. There's also a fun cooking school in Petra and find out when the Petra-by-night evening is. Not much to see in Aqaba so unless you're traveling on to Egypt by ferry or you really want to see the Red Sea (diving?), you could skip it. I took a private driver from Amman to Petra and we stopped at some amazing crusader castles (one had a cool hidden "escape tunnel" that you can exit out of and have your driver meet you at the bottom, but don't go if you're afraid of dark and tight places - it's a long way down/out) and mosaics along the way. It's a pretty standard tour and easy to organize upon arrival through your hotel.

Great Roman ruins in Amman, if you are into that. Red Sea is amazing for snorkling or diving. Petra and Wadi Rum of course.

Also the Jordan River and the spot where Jesus was supposedly baptised and the Burning Bush if you ard into Bible stories.

To add to what everyone else suggested . . . Sunrise or sunset at the top of the Citadel in Amman! Especially if you can time it so you hear the call to prayer when you're up there. The echo is unreal. If you get to Petra and line up a few min before opening, you have a good chance of being able to get your photos of the treasury with no one else in the shot. Consider the hike from Petra to Little Petra if you're fit and can swing it transportation-wise. In my opinion, Petra By Night is a gimmick. The show they put on has really declined in quality. It's just a sea of people's cell phone cameras going off while the lights on the treasury change color and some guy plays a flute for 15 min. If you're in Aqaba, go to the Berenice beach club. The public beaches are crowded and dirty and not really for swimming. Ajloun and Dana for more hiking and getting away from crowds. Have a great time! I was there in Nov.
