Ok I started just waffling about how beautiful this area is but will need to think about actual places to go. Either way just walking the old streets of this city will keep you occupied. Good choice! Oh not sure if you've been to Colombia before or if you're Canadian but they charged Canadians an entry tax on arrival at airport!

Margaret $70, yeah we didn't know either, they only charge to Canadians as well Canada charges Colombians so... guess it's fair!

My favorite hotel there is the boutique hotel Ananda. Absolutely gorgeous with amazing service and detail.

I have been there. We stayed with family so I can't recommend accommodation but I can recommend these sights: 1. Visit Hotel Caribe. In the lobby garden you will find sloths in the trees and a toucan. 2. Take a boat tour to one of the islands (isla del Rosario) but most of all make sure the boat goes to playa blanca. The sand is incredible and the water is very turquoise. 3. Wander inside the walled city and view all the gorgeous doors, balconies etc. 4. Watch the sunset and have cocktails at Cafe Del Mar.

Also, there's a store called 'La Cava Del Puro' that you can go into to try Colombian cigars and actually smoke one in the store.
