Bondi beach is the most famous beach in Sydney. Further up north Rainbow Bay in Coolangatta is most beautiful!

Noosa Heads is about 1 1/2 hours north of Brisbane. Not as busy as southern beaches. Funky town. Worth investigating. Was there 4 years ago

We drove the East Coast from Brisbane to Sydney. Fun drive. Loads of places to stop. Personally, i would give Surfer’s Paradise a pass. Touristy and a bit tacky. Byron was so beautiful. I would highly recommend staying at “The Atlantic”. Gorgeous!

Okay....This is my question for sure. If starting in Sydney, explore Sydney in maybe 2-3 days...go to manly, bondi beach and then on your way out of Sydney check out the three sisters.
From there I would head to Newscastle for maybe a night and then Coff’s Harbour, Byron bay (don’t forget to have a great time at Rainbow Temple just out of Byron Bay for a very cool experience)....Then on to the Gold Coast (I wouldn’t spend much time in surfers paradise either)....
To be honest some of the most beautiful beaches are passed Brisbane just a wee bit- Hervey Bay, Mooloolaba, Arlie Beach & Fraser Island.
If you get up to Brisbane faster than planned then I would head up to those beaches and get a cheap flight from Brisbane to Sydney back down.
I drove from Sydney to Brisbane in one day, so the drive does go much faster than predicted.
Brisbane’s not the most exciting city but the university I went to is pretty impressive-university Queensland....it’s made out of limestone & sandstone.

Stay at Coogee Beach instead of Sydney, it’s way better, plus there’s a long beach path (1+ hour walk) to get to Bondi. You won’t regret it!

My partner and I are doing 2 weeks in Australia over Christmas and New year's. Our main focus are the beaches we figure between Sydney and Brisbane. Could go slightly further north but we are flying in and out of Sydney. Probably gonna rent a car too. Any recommendations?
