Hello! I always get my dental work done in Mexico City (and sometimes in Playa del Carmen). I had an amazing dentist in Mexico City but he left the clinic. I will be there in a few weeks and will be promptly finding either him or a new one. Feel free to send me a pm if Mexico City would be an option for you and I’ll be sure to let you know what I find!
Bradford
Thank you so much. Mexico City is an option, as are Colombia and Peru (meeting friends in Feb/March)

Come here for dental work. My sister just had a 60,000 procedure done for 15,000 and is very happy with the outcome. I also just had braces removed that cost me $400.

Thanks for the great suggestions everyone! I'm guessing I'll need 3 crowns on lower molars. Maybe I'll try 1 in each country? Lol

In Costa Rica here. My novia just had to have a filling replaced. It popped out while eating something crunchy in the morning. Made the appointment and had the filling replaced that afternoon. Cost was 15,000 colones. That's about $35 CAN. It was Clinica Edgar in San Ramon. You can also check out the link (search for dentists) on other recomendations in San Ramon CR. http://gringocentral.org/recommendations.html

Kirk (the owner) is great and from BC.
He has done several implants for me. We've been many times. The kids have all been too.
He even came to my daughters birthday in Mexico.
We stay at the Grand Mayan there.
He has picked us up before. Or it's a short taxi ride from the GM.
Great facilities near the Walmart in the mall.

This is where we go too

I started a post about a month ago about this same thing. Search up my name, there's lots of comments there. We are planning on going hopefully in Jan/Feb to Los Algondones. We haven't totally decided which one yet.

I went to an excellent dentist in Mexico City. Dr. Néstor at Palmas Dental Center. It was more advanced than anywhere else I've been, and Dr. Néstor speaks fluent English (in case that's an issue for you).

Thailand was only $40 to fix a broken tooth. Cost more for the pre-emptive call to our Insurance Company for pre-approval. So we submitted the travel insurance claim anyway since we spent on the call too..

Costa Rica is fabulous! US trained at a fraction of the cost. Most speak perfect English

Dr Rogelio Ramos in Los Algodones . Prices are good. Make sure you get good references, there is the good, the bad and the ugly. The one Tacey Bell mentioned is good too.

Google Algodones Mexico, located near Yuma AZ. Lots of dental practices there at about a quarter of the cost of Can or USA. I like Bernal Dental. See Dr Carlos Castenedo or Dr Bernal.

Great service and a relaxing week in Cancun, even picked you up from hotel.

Dental Tourism: Exploring Options in Mexico and Latin America
If you're looking to save money on dental treatments while experiencing the rich cultures of Latin America, dental tourism might be an attractive option for you. Many countries in this region offer high-quality dental care at a fraction of the cost compared to the United States and other developed nations. In this blog post, we'll explore some popular destinations for dental tourism in Mexico and Central/South American countries.
Mexico
Mexico is a popular destination for dental tourism, thanks to its proximity to the United States and its well-established dental clinics and facilities. Some of the top cities for dental tourism in Mexico include:
- Los Algodones: Located just across the border from Yuma, Arizona, Los Algodones is often referred to as the "Dental Capital of the World." This small town is home to numerous dental clinics that cater to international patients, offering services such as dental implants, crowns, and cosmetic dentistry at affordable prices.
- Tijuana: Just across the border from San Diego, Tijuana is another popular destination for dental tourism. Many reputable dental clinics and hospitals in the city offer a wide range of dental services, including orthodontics, oral surgery, and periodontal treatments.
- Cancun: Known for its beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife, Cancun is also gaining popularity as a dental tourism destination. Several modern dental clinics in the city provide high-quality care at competitive prices.
Central and South America
Several countries in Central and South America have also established themselves as dental tourism hotspots, offering world-class dental care at reasonable costs. Here are some popular destinations:
- Colombia: Colombia is rapidly emerging as a leading destination for dental tourism, particularly in cities like Medellin and Bogota. Colombian dental clinics offer a wide range of services, including dental implants, veneers, and orthodontic treatments, at prices significantly lower than in the United States.
- Costa Rica: With its modern dental facilities and highly trained professionals, Costa Rica is a popular choice for dental tourism. Many dental clinics in cities like San Jose and Liberia cater to international patients, offering services such as dental crowns, bridges, and root canal treatments at affordable rates.
- Peru: Peru is another country that has made a name for itself in the dental tourism industry. Cities like Lima and Cusco boast state-of-the-art dental clinics that provide high-quality dental care at competitive prices. Additionally, Peru offers the opportunity to combine dental treatments with cultural experiences, such as visiting Machu Picchu or exploring the country's rich history.
Before embarking on a dental tourism journey, it's crucial to thoroughly research the dental clinics and professionals you plan to visit. Look for accredited facilities with experienced and qualified dentists, and be sure to understand the costs, potential risks, and follow-up care requirements. Additionally, it's advisable to consult with your local dentist to ensure that dental tourism is a suitable option for your specific dental needs.
Dental tourism can be a cost-effective and culturally enriching experience, but it's essential to approach it with caution and diligence. By doing your research and selecting reputable dental clinics, you can enjoy high-quality dental care while exploring the vibrant cultures of Mexico and Latin America.
