Sarah
Belize is a pretty awesome place.
Gerri
Thailand, Indonesia or Vietnam
Matti
Costa Rica
Diane
Matti agreed
Misty
Matti I third this!
Charline
Matti agreed
Sandy
Matti yup! Costa Rica is amazing!
Jillian
Costa Rica is the most uninteresting place I've ever been to in the 40 or so countries I've travelled to. I prefer Guatemala in comparison. CR is very Americanized, has almost no local culture and the main city is too dangerous to walk around at night alone. Apart from my hoity-toity American owned yoga retreat, I don't know why I went.
Carey
Jill Yewell totally agree! An expensive compared to Mexico or other central and S American countries. Overrated.
Bogusia
Jill Yewell agree , I didn’t feel safe in San Jose and didn’t find beaches breathtaking ( no turquoise waters nor white sandy beaches)
Steve
Iceland was incredible, but a bit colder.....perhaps the Cook Islands.
Kim
Yellowstone Park, Australia Gold coast, drive to PEI those were three of our families favourites!
Heather
When my son graduated we made the trip of a lifetime - hiked Machu Picchu and then spent a week in the Galapagos - it was amazing.
Andy
Spain, the beaches are amazing. Start in Barcelona and work your way down past Salou
Ruby
A place where vaccine has been implemented
Immy
Malaysia is awesome ! Langkawi, Penang, Kuala Lumpur. Easy to get around and most people speak English
Pats
Immy Ive been to Langkawi for a few days. Best vacation ever! Small Island. Very luxurious resort.
Ollan
Immy second langkawi
Immy
skybridge langkawi was amazing!
Salim
Bali
Roslin
Get a life people. At the end of 2022, we will be able to travel where eveer we want without retrictions. I recommended the southern part of Mexico. Have been in Puerto Escodido, with it's amazing beach, Palenque, with the most beautiful and interesting Mayan ruins, which are in the jungle and San Christobal de las Casas a wonderful village in the mountains.
Oleg
Roslin With all the mutations and variants 2025 might be optimistic!
Sandy
Thailand!! I miss it so much

Jillian
Morten Vietnam is a fantastic country to travel in. They've also been extremely successful controlling CVD19.
Sabrina
Are you interested in getting to know other cultures or just want to relax and decompress?
Susan
Our best ever holiday was in Iceland-it is a truly amazing place.
Tracy
Susan I 2nd this. Fascinating and unique.
Susan
Tracy the scenery literally evoked gasps as we turned every corner. The country is pristine. No billboards, wires or even buildings. The camping was outstanding. going to random fields to find hot streams to splash around in or pools in every town without exception where coffee and Danishes our served as you relax in the hot water. People are very friendly and helpful. Everything was perfect.
Meyen
Susan any recommendations for places to stay in Iceland? Thank you! You can PM me.
Barb
Cook Islands..unless you need a lot of nightlife. Absolutely beautiful, safe, great people and culture . Not coomercialized. Very few chain stores, hotels
Susan
Peru, Machhu Pichu we did 5 weeks, did Amazon and Galapagos too
Grace
The Galapagos!
Tiffany
Sri Lanka
Pats
Tiffany Loved Sri Lanka! Go to beachside resorts.
Kathy
Mallorca Spain - do a bike trip if it appeals to you
Pats
Kathy Loved Majorca. Beware the beaches are topless or even nude beaches.
Cindy
I can recommend Phuket Thailand or Vietnam
Jennie
Vietnam!!!!
Cindy
Jennie Bean I love Vietnam and can hardly wait to get back to my 5 week yearly vacation
Jennie
Cindy me too!!!!! Usually starting the countdown now
Tracy
African safari is my suggestion. Thrilling to see these magnificent wild animals in their habitat.
Pats
Tracy Our African Safari was awesome. We went for 10 days but that was too long. Recommend one week. Don’t bother with Kenya, Tanzania was better.
Tracy
Pats Agree. We went on 2 - 1 day safaris and was long enough for me sitting in a keep for 8 hours each day. But wow!!!
Ash
What do you value in a trip? Nature? Culture? Cities? Beaches? Animals?
Cathy
Go to Italy!!
Lori-Ann
Paris - my daughter & I spent 10 days in Paris over Christmas a few years ago. The weather was between 5-10 C mostly sunny & there was only 1 day with a light dusting of snow. Everywhere is decorated for the holidays - more lights! It is champagne season - so many brands to try! The hotel prices (we had a 2 bedroom apartment-hotel) was reasonable.
Susan
Biking in southern italy-you can get e bikes if you want.
Grace
Spent 3 weeks in Tuscany. I would go back in a minute!
Catherin
San Diego, California
Jaki
My family is doing Costa Rica next year, its our 20th anniversary and our sons tenth bday. Great weather
can't wait
Catherin

Samara
Turks and Caicos is AMAZING.
Neha
Mauritius
Megan
Bali and Lompoc! Did a family vacation there with kids around the same age and it was fantastic! We had a stop over in Beijing and did a Great Wall tour as well.
Claire
Costa Rica. We loved it there. Rincon de la Vieja & Manuel Antonio & Monteverde (cloud forest) gives you three different areas to explore.
We went rafting, kayaking through the mangroves, ziplining in the cloud forest, and enjoyed some beach time too. Have fun!
Sandra
Puerto Rico is gorgeous. Aguadilla and rent a house right on Rompeolas beach.
Chris
There's so many places but it really does depend on what type of holiday, ages and budget etc.
S.E. Asia has lot of choices.
Costa Rica was great but so was Aftica, Peru, Ecuador, Ireland, Scotland, Portugal...the options are endless!
Martin
It’s tough to answer without knowing your budget or the ‘style’ of travel you prefer. For ease I’d say Costa Rica... always a better option than Mexico and better value than Hawaii. Vietnam is amazing value with lots to offer and safe (fewer tourists than Thailand under normal conditions). Further afield and more $$ - Seychelles (for a pure lazy in the sun kinda vacation). And well, one can never go wrong with island hopping in Greece.
Catherin
I agree with Costa Rica, I would go back in a heart beat.
Salle
Portugal and Spain. Culture, food, weather.
Anne
Thailand is amazing . You need 2.5 - 3 weeks to make it worth the trip. I went with my 21 year old daughter . We had a fantastic time! Did the city, did the islands, spent time with the elephants in chaing mai
Lisa
Anne I second Thailand...have taken my kids there and it's great value, excellent food, lovely sights and people. If you don't want to travel around alot 10 days would work. Also, a side trip to Vietnam or Cambodia would be interesting if time permits...
Anne
yes! If you don’t travel around too much 10 days would be ok .
I can’t wait to go back.
Sheri
Anne yess Thailand
would go back 10000%
Alex
Chilliwack
Debbie
A villa in the Tuscan countryside with a pool, and a chef to do private cooking lessons, enjoy art city sight seeing visits, and enjoy some wine tours.
Dave
Congratulations on looking ahead. I suggest instead you plan a big get together at your home for your 50th. Take over a restaurant for two hours and invite special friends you haven’t seen for years. I did this for my 60th and paying for dinner and limited drinks was so much fun. Some friends drove 500 km. Invite people afterwards for dessert in your home. Everyone had a great time.
For you and your daughter I suggest you rent a posh place on the island for 4 days. Torino maybe. Walk on the beach, do a jigsaw puzzle but basically just be together
Travel is wonderful but not essential to making a memory that is special
Christin
I think it’s a personal choice, I’d take a trip/memories/experiences over paying for a whole bunch of people to dine for any bday haha.
Dave
Christin that is absolutely true. In my case I couldn’t travel as I had just had to start kidney dialysis 3 days a week and having everyone together to show care just at that time was the best choice for me. All the best wishes to you.
Josie
Roatan Honduras or Costa Rica!

Fly into Sydney, Australia, explore for a few days, rent a car and drive up to Brisbane. Do the Great Barrier Reef before it disappears and visit the Australian Zoo. Hand fed a kangaroo, hold a koala. Multigenerational activities like visiting wineries, quad tours, bush walking. Or fly to Brisbane and reverse. Fly in one city, fly out the other.
Sara
Karen this sounds like the perfect trip! Great idea.
Angelina
Waiheke in NZ is fantastic. Beautiful, lots of wineries and cute places to stay, you can bike and swim too. It’ll be their summer at that time of year, so it’ll be hot too!

The end of 2022....depending on how adventurous you are...a traveller or tourist....Peru is wonderful...my senior husband and I bussed for 5 months...fly to Lima good cosmo city, good hotels, food, then fly to Cusco (take altitude sickness pills)...prebook to Macchu Pichu...then back to Lake Titicaca at Puno(good hotels/food)(keep taking pills as it is even higher than MP) for national geographic experience:Dec 1-April...sunny/warm....or Ecuador, more springlike...The mited del mondo half hour from Quito is an experience, close to Amazon for boat trips and orchids, or direct to Galapagos... further south...Cuenca is great, milder, Spanish architecture, pan flutes, expats......Antigua, Guatemala fantastic for authentic tribal costumes, markets, concerts, easy mini bus to Lake Atilan good hotels at shore...do a day trip to local villages, fly to Flores and short tourist bus to Tikal.....Vietnam...good beaches by hovercraft from Saigon...in Saigon, incredible museums (American war), food, western hotels...bus/taxi to Can Tho to experience the markets on the Mekong, then to Chow Doc at Cambodia border to take bullet boat up the Mekong to Phenom Phen, stunning gold palaces and close by is one major killing field....then Ankor Wat...

I loved Panama! Get out of the city. You can do a resort thing or not, it's a lovely place.
April
Vietnam! Affordable, not a million tourists, amazing beaches, amazing culture, tons to do and see and then take a side trip to Cambodia to Siem Riep.
Sam
April Vietnam is my favorite as well. Unfortunately, if we are looking at 2022, chances are, they will require strict quarantine protocol as there's very little chance that pandemic will end before then. Vietnam has much more strict regulation put in place compared to other places, and this is why it's one of the most successful nation that prevented spread of COVID-19 despite being so close to ground zero China
Agnes
Bali
Shannon
Cuba, but don't go to the resorts. Go with casas particulares and group taxis. You can see the real Cuba and the food is so much better outside a resort. People are wonderful and so much to see. Havana is fascinating. Loved Trinidad too.
Anne
Shannon Trinidad is amazing!
Sam
Shannon take a shower after taking group taxis.. amount of polluted emission old cars on the road emits, when I took a shower, the shower water literally turned into black. Also, don't forget to blow your nose after.. or better, pandemic or not, wear masks when taking group taxis (many old cars don't have air conditioning and you are forced to keep windows open). Avoid anyone friendly that speaks perfect English. 99% they are con artists. Stick to locals, learn few Spanish and try to communicate in their language. They are amazing and friendliest people I met while traveling.
Shannon
We always had our hosts arrange the taxis as they knew who was trustworthy.
Chanelle
Sri Lanka was super affordable and AMAZING. tons to see and do and the weather was fantastic. If you want specific recs send me a message

Houseboat on Lake Powell.

Do you want city or beach experience? City - New York City, New Orleans. You can also do a paddle wheel cruise from Memphis to New Orleans on the Mississippi river sooo good. Go north to south on the cruise not south to north. I'd you go from New Orleans to Memphis the current is so strong that it can decrease your time at the ports you stop in.

Unique Family Vacation Ideas for End of 2022
As the year winds down and you're looking to celebrate your daughter's graduation and your 50th birthday, why not consider a unique family vacation destination that breaks away from the typical tourist traps? Here are some ideas to explore:
Costa Rica
Costa Rica offers a perfect blend of adventure, nature, and relaxation. With its lush rainforests, pristine beaches, and numerous outdoor activities, it's an ideal spot for families seeking an active yet serene getaway. You can explore the cloud forests of Monteverde, soak in the natural hot springs of Arenal Volcano, or simply bask in the sun at Manuel Antonio National Park.
New Zealand
For a truly unforgettable experience, consider a trip to New Zealand. This stunning country boasts breathtaking landscapes, from the snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps to the pristine beaches of the North Island. Explore the geothermal wonders of Rotorua, embark on a Lord of the Rings-inspired tour, or indulge in the vibrant food and wine culture of Marlborough.
Yellowstone National Park
If you're looking for an adventure closer to home, consider a trip to Yellowstone National Park. This iconic park, spanning parts of Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho, offers incredible natural wonders like Old Faithful geyser, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, and abundant wildlife. You can hike, camp, and immerse yourselves in the park's stunning scenery.
Portugal
Portugal is a hidden gem in Europe, offering a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Explore the vibrant cities of Lisbon and Porto, with their colorful architecture and delicious cuisine. Venture out to the Algarve region for its stunning beaches and quaint fishing villages, or head to the Douro Valley for a wine-tasting adventure.
No matter where you decide to go, remember to plan ahead, research your destination thoroughly, and create an itinerary that caters to your family's interests and preferences. Most importantly, cherish the time spent together, making lasting memories to celebrate this special occasion.

Looking for ideas for a great family vacation for the end of 2022. We don't want the usual places like Mexico, Hawaii, Vegas, or Disneyland. My daughter is graduating and it's my 50th birthday. Looking for a fun family vacation location that has good weather.
