How long would you recommend spending there?

Alicia-Rae Olafsson we rented a 4 x 4 and went over on one of the first ferries in the morning, spent the day exploring, stayed one night and went to Mackenzie lake the next day and came back to the mainland on one of the last ferries that day. That’s all the time we had but enjoyed every minute of it

Sarah sounds great! We’re on a tight timeline too so trying to maximize our 10 days in Australia (just doing Queensland) any other favourite spots?

Alicia-Rae Olafsson unfortunately it was many years ago that we were there - so I can’t give you any current suggestions. would love to go back one day tho! We stayed for 4 days on Daydream Island in the whitsundays and took a snorkel cruise to Hardy Reef. Was amazing but I have no idea what that island is like now. Friends just came back from a trip there and stayed on Hamilton Island. They said it was great!

I didn't care for Brisbane or Surfer's Paradise - both too busy. Byron Bay is great (check out Arts Factory) and I have wonderful memories from Fraser Island

Also, we were tight for time to do Whitsundays, so did a day cruise from Airlie Beach.

10 Day Queensland Adventure

Planning a 10-day trip to Queensland can be an exciting and rewarding experience. With its diverse landscapes, stunning beaches, and vibrant cities, Queensland offers something for everyone. Here's a suggested itinerary for your upcoming trip, starting in Brisbane on April 19th and ending back in Brisbane after exploring the stunning Noosa, Fraser Island, and the Great Barrier Reef.

Day 1-2: Brisbane

Start your adventure in Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland. Spend a day exploring the city's cultural attractions, such as the Queensland Museum, Gallery of Modern Art, and the iconic South Bank Parklands. Don't miss out on trying some of the city's delicious food and vibrant nightlife.

Day 3-4: Noosa

Head to the stunning coastal town of Noosa, about a 2-hour drive from Brisbane. Spend your time here soaking up the sun on the beautiful Noosa Main Beach, exploring the Noosa National Park, and indulging in the local cuisine and shopping.

Day 5-6: Fraser Island

From Noosa, embark on a journey to the world-famous Fraser Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This unique island is home to crystal-clear lakes, colorful sand cliffs, and diverse wildlife. Consider joining a guided tour to explore the island's highlights, such as Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek, and the Maheno Shipwreck.

Day 7-9: The Great Barrier Reef and Whitsundays

No trip to Queensland would be complete without visiting the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world's most incredible natural wonders. From Fraser Island, make your way to the Whitsunday Islands, a group of 74 islands located off the central coast of Queensland. Here, you can explore the stunning reef, go snorkeling or scuba diving, or take a scenic flight over the iconic Heart Reef.

Tip:

Consider staying on one of the Whitsunday Islands, such as Hamilton Island or Hayman Island, for a truly unforgettable experience. These islands offer luxurious accommodations and easy access to the reef.

Day 10: Return to Brisbane

On your final day, make your way back to Brisbane, where you can catch your flight or plan your onward journey. If you have time, consider visiting the iconic Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to interact with Australia's famous marsupials.

Remember to pack sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, and a sense of adventure as you embark on this unforgettable 10-day journey through Queensland's natural wonders and vibrant cities.
