Is 12 days in Singapore for Chinese New Year too long?

Question:

Hi there! Has anyone gone to Singapore for Chinese New Year? If so, would 12 days be too long? Lots of reviews are saying that 5 days is the average amount of time to spend in Singapore, but I find that hard to believe. Looking for your personal experiences and recommendations. Thanks

Singapore is a city-state, could see everything in 5 days. Check out KL across the strait.

I think 4 or 5 days would be good. We've been twice. 3 days and then 2 days. First time we flew out on Chinese new years Eve which was a good thing because many taxis and shops close down for 2 days to celebrate. We were told to try and avoid that time

Singapore is a very small city state. You can literally drive from one end of the country to the other in an hour so I believe 5 days would be ample time to check out the city.

visit Malaysia while you're there if you have that many days, even Penang in the north is just 1 hour away by plane, booked plane tickets four days before flying for $30 one way from Singapore

Edwina consider Langkawi and Cameron Highlands and that should be very nice for 12 days altogether

You can also fly to Southern Thailand in an hour and a half. Fly to Krabi and explore the many islands. Koh Lanta is a great spot. Or fly to Phuket (I wouldnt stay there) and go to Khao Lak from there

I was in Singapore around Chinese New Year a few years ago, and enjoyed it but I would say 3 or 4 days enough. I stayed in Little India which was interesting (lots of good food). Check out Tamen Ngara for some time in the jungle if you are into that sort of thing.

5 days is even a bit too much! You can get cheap flights to other places in Asia once you’re in Singapore

I would say 5 days is even a bit much. Unless you’re going to shop, lounge around expensive hotels and the like.

Is 12 Days in Singapore Too Long for Chinese New Year?

Going to Singapore for Chinese New Year sounds like an amazing experience! The vibrant celebrations, delicious food, and festive atmosphere are definitely worth experiencing. But the question remains - is 12 days too long to spend in Singapore for Chinese New Year?

Many reviews suggest that 5 days is the average amount of time to spend in Singapore. However, I believe that spending 12 days in Singapore for Chinese New Year can be a great idea. Here's why:

1. Fully Immerse Yourself in the Festivities

Chinese New Year celebrations in Singapore are a sight to behold. With 12 days, you can fully immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere, attend multiple events, explore different neighborhoods, and truly experience the rich culture and traditions of this holiday.

2. Explore Beyond the Main Attractions

While 5 days may be enough to visit the main tourist attractions in Singapore, spending 12 days allows you to explore beyond the typical tourist spots. You can visit local markets, try authentic street food, discover hidden gems, and get a deeper understanding of the local culture.

3. Relax and Enjoy Some Downtime

With 12 days in Singapore, you can also take some time to relax and enjoy the city at a slower pace. You can spend a day at the beach, pamper yourself at a spa, or simply wander around the city without feeling rushed.

In conclusion, while 5 days may be enough to get a taste of Singapore, spending 12 days in the city for Chinese New Year can provide a more enriching and memorable experience. So go ahead and plan your 12-day trip to Singapore - you won't regret it!
