Is bringing a wagon for my 4 year old a good idea for travel?

I'm going to Mexico with a 6 and 4 year old and Looking for advice.
Wanting to do Jolly Roger's pirate ship. Should I book online before we go, or is it cheaper to book at resort when we arrive?
Should I bring a wagon for my 4 year old? And can you check these at the gate like a stroller?
Do all inclusive hotels typically have lifejackets?
Any other advice for travel with kids? I plan to bring snacks and activities for flights

Just something to consider - I have noticed long lines of folks wanting to book tours/activities - if you book on line, you don't have to wait in line.

You can check in a wagon just like a stroller
Wagon can be handy to cart stuff around and have both kids in but may be more cumbersome than a stroller.
. I’d bring whichever is easier to fold and manoeuvre.
I would bring my own life jacket or puddle jumpers for the kids to use in pools
Have never seen resorts provide them for kids except on boat excursions

We’ve done a few times. We booked online after we arrived. Like a day or 2 before we wanted to do.
I would not take a wagon for a 4 yr old. Just an extra item.
I find hotels do not carry much extra … I’d be surprised if they had life jackets. I would take puddle jumpers over life jackets.

We took a wagon, checked it like a stroller. Was a life saver. Definitely do the pitate ship tour. We did captain hook one. It was great. We booked it online as we got 2 for 1 passes. The jolly roger should be similar....Definitely worth it.

Sometimes your airline will offer the excursions in CAD and you will pay USD there. Keep that in mind. We do usually book ahead if they offer this.

Im going with my 4 and 6 yr old as well. We have gone many times in the past. Bring a collapsable wagon. They accept it as a stroller at airport so i always bring it right up to the plane door.
I bring the kids puddle jumpers cuz the bulky life jackets are too huge for hot weather (and they usually stink).

We booked at the resort. The meal is amazing and so is the show. Well worth it

My advice is to look for a resort that has all these items ready and in your room waiting for you. The Fives has cribs, strollers you can use for the week and take off the resort with you, life jackets, sanitized toys that you can exchange for new ones when they are bored, books, the list goes on.

Traveling to Mexico with Kids: Tips and Advice

Planning a trip to Mexico with young children can be an exciting yet daunting experience. Here are some helpful tips to ensure a smooth and enjoyable vacation.

Booking Jolly Roger's Pirate Ship

Jolly Roger's Pirate Ship is a popular attraction in Mexico, and it's advisable to book your tickets in advance to secure your spots. Many resorts offer packages that include these types of excursions, so you may want to inquire about it when you arrive. However, booking online before your trip can save you time and guarantee availability, especially during peak seasons.

Bringing a Wagon

Bringing a wagon for your 4-year-old can be a lifesaver, especially if you plan on doing a lot of walking or exploring different areas. Many attractions and resorts allow you to bring strollers or wagons through the gates, but it's always a good idea to check with the specific location beforehand.

Life Jackets at All-Inclusive Hotels

Most all-inclusive hotels in Mexico provide life jackets for guests, especially if they have pools or beach access. However, it's always best to double-check with your specific resort to ensure they have life jackets available, especially in the appropriate sizes for your children.

Additional Travel Tips with Kids

  • Pack Snacks and Activities: As you mentioned, bringing snacks and activities for the flights is a great idea. It will help keep your children entertained and prevent hunger meltdowns.
  • Bring Sunscreen and Hats: Mexico's sun can be intense, so make sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and hats to protect your kids from the harmful UV rays.
  • Consider Travel Insurance: Travel insurance can provide peace of mind in case of unexpected situations, such as illness, injury, or trip cancellations.
  • Stay Hydrated: Encourage your children to drink plenty of water throughout the day to avoid dehydration.
  • Establish Meeting Points: If you're worried about your children getting lost, establish a meeting point in case you get separated.

Remember, the key to a successful family vacation is being prepared and staying flexible. With a little planning and patience, you and your kids can create wonderful memories in Mexico.
