We stayed at the Legacy Ottoman in Istanbul. Walking distance to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the pier for boat trip on the Bosphorus Sea, Spice Market and Grand Bazaar.
In Cappadocia we stayed at Avrasya Hotel but can’t remember what it was like.

In 1998 we stayed here: https://www.hostelsclub.com/.../ali-baba-hotel-istanbul. We were on a tight budget, it was not fancy but it was clean and in a very good location. I highly recommend Cappodocia as well
