There's some great Airbnb's all over, but to book any outside Reyk, you do have to book early. Don't miss out on Myvatn or Jokulsarlon, and do some googling so you can go find some of the more hidden hot springs. There's something amazing to see in every part of the country.

I drove the ring road a couple summers ago and would recommend that. If you have any questions let me know!

Beautiful country - but very expensive.

What time of year are you planning to go? That makes a huge difference on travel plans, booking airbnb accessing the ring road, etc. We went in early October and we're lucky to still have great weather and book accommodation as we went but in July almost everything is already booked up.

We are going mid September for 2 weeks. Most places seem available. I was mainly hoping/looking for people's personal recommendations and suggestions as to what their experience was when they went to Iceland. I've done a TON of research and sometimes things are still overlooked. It's nice to get info from a fellow traveller

2 weeks is enough time to do the whole Ring Road if you would like. Or pick an area or two and focus on that. We were there for 2 weeks. Definitely get into the interior if the weather allows.
