Old Panama is great to see. Of course, the canal. Head up to Ancon Hill. Amazing 360 view of old and new city, canal and the ocean. Our highlight was Jungle Land. We stayed there for 3 days. It's a very rustic houseboat that is on the canal. They also do day trips. Here is the link: http://www.junglelandpanama.com/ .Kayaking, Monkey island, fishing, night searches for crocs and cayman. It's an amazing experience.

I was there in April but drove around the country and was only in Panama City 2 nights. Riande airport hotel is decent and close to the airport. As a warning Panama City driving is an experience. I know a super good car rental place you can check out. Coronado is pretty close, just over an hour away. zip lining at boquete was amazing but that’s a long way away from the city. Pm if you want more information. Good luck

Just got back. Best advice go somewhere else. I find Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica way more interesting than Panama.

I really enjoyed Panama. Got the hop-on-hop-off bus for Panama City, hits all the top spots including canal and old town. Boquete is beautiful

My tip is to see other places in Panama as well. Boquete is in the rain forest, and there are also lovely beaches in Panama. The city is fun for a couple of days, but there is much more.

We enjoyed our stay at Gamboa Rainforest Resort WAY more than staying in Panama City. We LOVED it there, highly recommend staying there. And San Blas. We really enjoyed Panama.

I think splitting up your time in a few different places in Panama would be wonderful! Like many people have indicated the rainforest and beaches are wonderful outside of the city.
if you do stay in Panama city for a night or two, the coconut lodge guest house was quite pleasant. Affordable, friendly, and many conveniences. We stayed at another resort on a beach and just found it kitchy... Can't think of the name off the top of my head, but will reply if it comes to me!

Spent a month in Panama in 2016. We only stayed in the capital one day and probably could have done a 3-4 days but that would be all that interests me there. There is lots to see and do from Surfing, fishing, beaches, jungles and so much more. The Pacific side was our favorite side and we traveled as much of the country one could with a car in a month with having 5 stops. We spent 5 days on the Caribbean side up at Bocus del Toro if you are young and looking for cheap drinks and parting it would fit the bill, but that was not my cup of tea and probably our least favorite. We were there in Jan-Feb and saw no rain on the pacific side but spring is the start of there rainy season into June and July so keep that in mind.......
