Try Costco!

I couldn't find much for under 550 either. Also keep in mind that the prices quoted online don't include insurance for your car, or third party liability or any added protection that you should have. If you live here and drive a car I would strongly recommend getting north american rental car insurance added onto your plan. We pay I think an extra 8$ a month and all of our coverage is extended to any rental in North America. We have saved litterally thousands over buying the same coverage from the rental company.

If you carry any road package on your vehicle here you can deny the coverage on the rental. That will save quite a bit!
George
Try Costco but you have to be a member.
Tommy
It totally depends on the time of booking.
Reserve one first, and then keep checking prices on the internet.
Prices drop significantly when there's some sort of promotion or sale.
I saved 50% compare to the original booking at costco.ca by checking the price once a week before we fly to Hawaii 2weeks ago.
Dave
I find Thrifty the best, we rented from them there and got a mid size for 16 days for 306 USD
Terry
Try priceline and bid on the car. You might have to bid over 2-3 days but great savings. I use it every time I go to PSP and never had a problem, pick it up right at the airport.
Linda
Costco.com better prices than Costco.ca too
COSTCO.COM
Welcome to Costco Wholesale

I flew out of Bellingham to Palm Springs this summer, with Allegiant for $255.94 return, taxes in.
