Planning to visit Tokyo in March with kids(2adults+2 yr&5yr old). Only there for 4days on our way somewhere else.I heard rooms are smaller with twin beds so any hotel recommendations with 2 dbl beds or perhaps family rooms with tatami mattresses? We will arrive in narita and closer to transit is essential. Thanks all!

Mimaru suites are super popular with North American travellers. More expensive but more akin to standard hotel room in terms of size. Find one close to Ueno or Tokyo stn for direct access from Narita airport.

Sapphire definitely Mimaru! We were there Mar/Apr this year and it was about $250/night (for 2 adults and two preteens)

It you book early, many hotels have a few rooms with 3 or even 4 beds in a room. Search any hotel booking site.
Also note, in Tokyo you will do lots and lots of walking. Up and down stairs at train and subway stations and more. With the little ones, pace yourself each day.

We are currently in Japan and I recommend Odaiba.the Decks shopping mall has a huge play center and a floor that looks like old Japan and a Joypolis which has a bunch of interactive games and a huge 5-story moving robot and a bunch more stuff. We always booked the rooms with two beds and they were nice and reasonable cost. We stayed at one that is attached to the mall called Ariake Garden.

I have been to Tokyo twice since May, so have relatively current accommodation knowledge. Many airbnb’s have multiple beds, often on tatami. At least with an apartment and two small children, you could have breaks in more than just a hotel room.

Visiting Tokyo with Kids in March: Hotel Recommendations

Traveling to Tokyo with young children can be an exciting and memorable experience, but finding the right accommodation can make or break your trip. With limited time and the need for proximity to transit, it's essential to consider hotels that cater to families and offer spacious rooms or family-friendly options.

Hotel Recommendations:

1. Narita Tobu Hotel Airport

Located just a few minutes away from Narita Airport, the Narita Tobu Hotel Airport is an excellent choice for families looking for convenience. They offer family rooms with two double beds, ensuring a comfortable stay for you and your little ones. Additionally, the hotel provides shuttle services to and from the airport, making your transit experience hassle-free.

2. Richmond Hotel Narita

Another great option near Narita Airport is the Richmond Hotel Narita. This hotel offers spacious family rooms with tatami areas and futon bedding arrangements, allowing you to experience traditional Japanese accommodation with your children. The hotel also has a complimentary shuttle service to the airport, making it an excellent choice for your short stay in Tokyo.

3. Shinagawa Prince Hotel

If you prefer to stay closer to the city center, the Shinagawa Prince Hotel is a fantastic option. This hotel offers family rooms with two double beds, ensuring ample space for your family. Additionally, the hotel is conveniently located near the Shinagawa Station, providing easy access to various transportation options, including the Narita Express train direct from the airport.

Tips for Traveling with Kids in Tokyo:

  • Pack light and consider using a stroller or baby carrier for easy navigation through crowded areas.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Tokyo subway system, as it's an efficient way to get around the city with children.
  • Plan to visit child-friendly attractions like Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, Tokyo DisneySea, or the Ghibli Museum.
  • Carry snacks and drinks for your little ones to keep them energized during your sightseeing adventures.

With proper planning and the right accommodation, your four-day visit to Tokyo with your kids can be a wonderful and memorable experience. Enjoy exploring the vibrant city and creating lasting family memories!
