Sandos Caracol Eco Resort is a great family resort near Playa del Carmen. Lots to do right at the resort including a huge water park (check height restrictions), Mayan Ruins, animals, and cenotes. The food was really good, my only downside was that the beach is not great. It’s quite rocky in the ocean.

We just came from this resort 2 weeks ago- kids absolutely loved every second of it! You can also go to their sister resort which is a short cab ride where to beach and ocean are amazing!!

Keli hi, do you recommend bringing pool toys to this resort or they have them?

Profile picture of Nooni

Nooni

Keli How far is it far is it from airport? & One more question please, did you make reservation when you got to resort or did it ahead of time?

Profile picture of Keli

Keli

Nooni yes I would bring some dollar store blow up tubes and dive toys. They do not supply any of that. Once we were heading home, we gave them to other kids to use in the pool.

Keli

Nooni it wasn’t that far from the Cancún-Chetumal airport, maybe 1/2 hr? We booked a private shuttle service. There is a bus that will also get you there through the resort but you have to stop at other resorts first so it takes longer for sure.

Keli did you make reservations to restaurants before hand or had to make them when you get their sorry for 1000 questions i tried calling was no answer.

Nooni

Thanks so much for taking time to answer my questions

Profile picture of Keli

Keli

Nooni we didn’t have to make reservations at any of the restaurants except the Brazilian- the Brazilian though is in an adults only area of the resort so kids are not allowed there before 8pm as an FYI.

This resort is wonderful. So many activities/stage shows/cultural events.
The have actual ruins right on the resort. Snorkeling in the onsite cenote was awesome.
The beach isn't great, but you get free access including food and drinks to Sandos playacar. Which has one of the nicest beaches in the world.

Nicole careful at this resort
Many many people with children have left the resort with HAnd Foot and Mouth
They don’t clean after being told many times about it
I believe it’s the pools the kids are getting it from
They don’t seem to take to serious at all. there was an entire family of 5 kids at the resort with it, plus some of their friends kids, then my Kid got it, my niece got it,then I was told by many families after we left that their children got it as well for months after and still hearing it!

Profile picture of Larry

Larry

Marianne it's not great, but you also get free access to the sister resort. Sandos playacar, (including food and drinks) with one of the best beaches in the world.

Sandos playacar is more of a jungle setting, the have monkeys wandering around, and so many activities.

Profile picture of Candi

Marianne Rocky in the water, water shoes required for sure. Lots of seaweed but changed day to day and is the case for all resorts along the coast. The resorts try to stay on top if it. My kids prefer the pool/waterpark so it wasn't a big deal for us. We did go to Sandos Playacar for the day as well. The beach is nicer there & you can go in the water no problem.

Sandos Caracol. Waterpark for both big & little kids. Cenotes to swim in and hidden natural grottos. Kids were feeding monkeys right out of there hands. Pettimg zoos. Kids club & water sports. Lots of pools. The beach was nice but water rocky.. definitely go spend a day at the sister resort for better beach. Depending on ages of your kids, they also have a teen club & kite surfing lessons.
