People say they liked Cuba but most just went to a resort and then maybe a day trip to Havana. That's not liking Cuba

Ok...
So do u have a suggestion ?

Not a gross assumption. You can't actually like a country by going to a resort. Even spending a day in a city can't give you even the closest sense of what the country is like. Same goes for any travel to simply a resort. You can't say you like the country because you actually did not see the country.

Nor did she give any reason why someone shouldn't/wouldn't like Cuba if they did leave the resort...

Paula Ouellet they can answer that themselves. It is very rare to know anyone that did not do the resort thing in Cuba.

What is your point Jeannett?

Profile picture of Jeannett

Ryan how else to explain? No matter where you travel in the world of you stay at a resort and do a day trip to a single town you can't in reality say your liked the country because you did not really see it experience anything that makes it a great country. You have to actually travel around and experience the people and culture and sights. You may have lived where you stayed or loved the beach or whatever but you can't say you actually love the country

Not sure your comment was necessary or helpful in this forum Jeanette. Whether it is true or not, it’s irrelevant. The person was posting and asking for help in finding a travel destination.

Resorts serve a very real purpose. Cuba is a great place, lovely people, and resorts are great for newbie travelers to get experience in how to travel. Not everyone is comfortable with diving into a strange place, and there's also a big difference between a holiday and traveling.
We went to a resort in Cuba and it made us see that we'd love to mix it up next time, with some time at a resort and some time traveling. I think your comment came off a bit condescending, wasn't really necessary imo.

So the same as people that go to Cancun, Paris, London, Vancouver... nobody can say they liked Mexico, France, England, Canada unless they've lived there for what... 5 years? 10 years?

This thread took a weird turn.
Let's get back on track.
So far, we've heard Cuba, Arizona, Palm Springs, Vegas, California - anything else to add to this list?

Cruise from Miami - fly from Seattle with Alaska or American both good options. Or just Orlando.

For somewhere warm and close, I would second Palm Springs....Hawaii is my second choice only because of distance, but always gorgeous and romantic! Have fun wherever you choose to go!
