Not sure about your desired time frame but I really enjoyed San Diego. Lots to do and see. Amazing beaches. Great hotels. Plus some great outlet shopping.

Seat sales to San Salvador and Guatemala right now for Jan-march 2018 too

Any South American country really can be very affordable. The flight sales have been amazing. Book airbnb or vrbo and you will have an affordable nice holiday. I booked Mexico City, Costa Rica and Maui all this fall for under $440 a person all in. You just have to watch this page for the flight sales and then jump on them because they usually go fast.

Believe it or not Hawaii isn't bad as long as you rent a condo, eat and cook in house and don't do many excursions

How long are you planning to be away? That will make a difference in recommendations. You prefer an all inclusive resort or not?

At the beginning of March this year, on a Saturday, I telephoned sell-off-vacations . com & asked "what leaves tomorrow". There was a deal for a 4.5* all-inclusive resort in the Mayan for $1400 including taxes. A friend joined me for an extra $1,000 so it was $1,200 each. Had a fabulous time, food & drinks were excellent, as was the resort. You just have to be willing to take that chance & not be too picky about which resort. The name of our resort was Princess something & it was about 20-25 minutes from the airport/town.

Affordable Family Beach Vacations: Relaxation Without Breaking the Bank
With the winter chill still lingering and the desire for some sun and sand growing stronger, planning an affordable family beach vacation for February or March can be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. As a group of five adults and one teenager, finding a destination that caters to diverse interests while remaining budget-friendly can be a delicate balancing act.
Exploring Cost-Effective Coastal Destinations
One option to consider is the Gulf Coast of Florida. Cities like Panama City Beach, Destin, and Fort Walton Beach offer a wealth of activities, from soaking up the sun on sandy beaches to exploring nature trails and state parks. These areas often boast a range of accommodation options, including budget-friendly hotels, vacation rentals, and campgrounds, making it easier to find something that suits your needs and budget.
Another enticing option is the coastal regions of South Carolina. Myrtle Beach, a renowned family-friendly destination, offers a wide array of activities, including amusement parks, mini-golf courses, and dolphin-watching tours. During the off-season months of February and March, you can often find great deals on accommodations and enjoy fewer crowds.
Embracing the Joy of Beach Towns
For a more laid-back and authentic experience, consider visiting charming beach towns along the coasts of North Carolina or Georgia. Places like Tybee Island, Jekyll Island, and Wilmington offer a slower pace, allowing you to truly unwind and immerse yourself in the local culture. These destinations often boast budget-friendly vacation rentals, quaint eateries, and plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and kayaking.
Regardless of the destination you choose, consider booking accommodations with kitchen facilities to save on dining costs. Additionally, researching local events, festivals, and free attractions can help stretch your budget even further while ensuring an enjoyable and memorable family vacation.
Making Lasting Memories on a Budget
With careful planning and an open mind, finding an affordable beach destination that caters to your family's diverse interests and provides ample opportunities for relaxation and bonding is entirely possible. By embracing the spirit of adventure and keeping an eye out for deals and discounts, you can create lasting memories without breaking the bank.
