You will love Japan! As others state above, make sure to visit Kyoto. We went for 11 days and covered Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima (also highly recommend). We bought a Japan Rail Pass and it was the best decision we made – it made for very fast, clean and friendly travel between the cities. Trains are costly in Japan, and the rail pass is less expensive and only available to non-Japanese travelers and must be purchased in Canada. If you have any questions, feel free to message me!
Highlights:
- Iwatayama Monkey Park in Kyoto
- Staying in a traditional ryokan in Kyoto – would highly recommend ours https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g298564-d1385681...
- Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine in Kyoto
- Robot Bar in Toyko (a once in a lifetime experience, ha!)
- Exploring Akihabra in Tokyo and visiting a cat cafe
- Miyajima Island in Hiroshima (imagine a beautiful island with cute deer everywhere)
- Our incredible hotel in Hiroshima - https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g298561-d2024066...
- Amazing food, incredible service and friendly people!

Honeymoon in Japan
Congratulations on choosing Japan as your honeymoon destination! Japan is a beautiful and unique country with a rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and delicious cuisine. Here is some information to help you plan your trip:
Places to Go
Some must-visit places in Japan include:
- Tokyo - the bustling capital city with a mix of modern skyscrapers and historic temples
- Kyoto - the ancient city known for its traditional tea houses, gardens, and geisha districts
- Hakone - a picturesque town famous for its hot springs and views of Mount Fuji
- Nara - home to friendly deer and ancient temples
Cost
Japan can be a bit pricey, especially in major cities like Tokyo and Kyoto. However, there are ways to save money such as staying in budget accommodations, eating at local restaurants, and using public transportation. Make sure to budget for entrance fees to attractions and transportation between cities.
Experiences
During your honeymoon in Japan, you can enjoy a variety of experiences such as:
- Taking a traditional tea ceremony in Kyoto
- Exploring the vibrant street markets in Osaka
- Hiking in the beautiful Japanese Alps
- Relaxing in an onsen (hot spring) in Hakone
Traveling in October
October is a great time to visit Japan as the weather is usually mild and the autumn foliage is stunning. Make sure to pack layers as the temperatures can vary throughout the day. You may also have the chance to experience traditional festivals such as the Takayama Autumn Festival or the Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri.
Overall, Japan is a fantastic choice for a honeymoon destination with its mix of culture, nature, and modern amenities. Have a wonderful trip!
