Norma
No resort. Stay in a local hotel (so many good ones) and enjoy all the great things PVR has to offer. So many great restaurants, street vendors, etc
Toblini
Norma I’m heading there in June with my family. I’d love recommendations for where to stay (not a resort) and things to do
Norma
Toblini we stayed here last year
Norma
And year prior we stayed here
Norma
Not fancy, but clean and only a few blocks walk to the beach and Malecon.
So many many good restaurants around. Small pools, but good enough for a cool off swim.
Toblini
Norma Awesome. Thank you for the recommendations.
Tracey
Toblini
Barceló Maya Grand Resort is a great family resort with a ton of things to do for all ages
Norma
Toblini also if your budget allows, consider doing an excursion called Rhythms of the Night. Was very good experience for the money.
Sara
Toblini I used to like a place called Posada lily. It was right on old town off the Malacon. Cheap and clean and cute. I would also check out air b n B's as then you get a kitchen.
Annie
Norma that is what I will do next time! I loved visiting the city when we went a couple weeks ago.
Marjolei
Norma agree 100%
Kim
Nuevo Vallarta we stayed at RIU Vallarta and it was amazing not far from puerto Vallarta at all !

Riu Palace

Skip the resorts, find a small boutique hotel in Old Town. Resort stays give you no flavour of life in Mexico.
Jordan
Leigh-An you’re free to leave resort whenever you want.
Geni
We stayed at the Hilton Vallarta (not the marina one) and we were very impressed with the staff, food, activities, etc!
Bev
RIU Palace
Michael
Friendly Vallarta is a great place to stay.
Laurie
I second Secrets. The food was delicious. Excellent location
Eva
Just returned from a 2 week stay - 1st week at Golden Club Paradise (closer to downtown PV); 2nd week at RIU Jalisco (great resort but closer to Bucerius). Both different, both good… depends on your personal interests.
Carolyn
Eva we are talking about the Crown Paradise Golden. So if you have any extra info, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Eva
Carolyn I will do you
Elaine
Tropicana. Great location. Only breakfast which we love as so many great resto in PV!
Mavis
No resort
Annie
The Mélia was fantastic and super close to the airport, right across from the marina. It is a small resort though..
Alex
Stayed at hard rock, it was pretty good, but try to get a deal and not full price.
Debra
I love RIU resorts..wonderful staff...fun bartenders
Pat
Puerto Vallarta has grown to be a huge crazy city with lots of traffic , I would recommend Nuevo Vallarta especially if you are taking your children. I’m in Puerto Vallarta right now staying at the Hilton Rivera, lovely resort but very remotely located, you have to take a taxi every time you want to go anywhere.
Bruce
Go to Huatalco and stay at an AirBnB.
Debbie
Bruce yes please, I want to snorkle everyday. Do you have info.
Bruce
Debbie We recently stayed in Huatulco at a resort, and left with the thought we have to come back and stay at an airbnb. Safe, people were friendly, fruit, vegetable, seafood and meat shopping looked incredible and so cheap. Resorts do offer for a fee beach access with towels. Weird thing? Only pesos are welcome. Leave your American money at home (never mind Canadian).
Bruce
PS we had sting rays at our resort beach.
Debbie
Bruce which resort please?
Bruce
Debbie We were at Dreams, which was okay.
Heather
