No matter what you end up doing you need to know that the UK is in no way inexpensive. It's pricey especially with the current exchange rate...specifically London.

That's what I thought too

You could look at airbnb in Cornwall. It is so lovely there. Not big crowds

London is horrible for crowds and cost. But the £ is down now, so it is the time to go. Last summer was far more affordable than the first time I went due to the difference in the £

Northern Ireland is beautiful. Lots to explore and lots of great blue flag beaches. We use this website to book places to stay in Europe. https://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/?m=20454&supci=1477703854&supai=102785020334&supap=1t1&supdv=m&supnt=g&suplp=1001823&supli=&supsc=kwd-176219042&supap1=11797&supap2=£23&suprnd=16669000062713691886&supag=24004410614&gclid=CPWH-aXD29ACFQQoaQodfzYMcQ

Go to Ireland and be subject to the Euro exchange instead. London is brutal with the exchange.

canadian affair is the cheapest way to fly to England from Canada.

You must be able to fly on the dates that they fly. Not much flexibility. I flew westjet for $740 round trip to Gatwick

Plus they don't fly out of YEG anymore

canadian affair was never an airline. Just an agency that sold air transat and Thomas Cook flights.
Thomas Cook went under in Canada, so canadian affair really just sells air transat flights now. And the canadian affair brand is now owned by Transat. It's essentially the same as purchasing air transat flights from anywhere now.

My brother has an airbnb place in St Agnes in Cornwall. It's a nice little beach town that's not too costly. It's around +8-10 Celsius in winter and much nicer in the summer but a great vacay spot

I'm with everyone else. If your looking for a cheap vacation, you won't find it in the U.K. I stayed in airbnb in both England and Scotland but it was still expensive. I was glad to move on to Italy.

St. Agnes, st. Ives, padstow, tintagel all great places to visit.

Affordable Family Vacation Ideas in the U.K.

The United Kingdom is a treasure trove of rich history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture, making it an ideal destination for a family vacation. While travel costs can add up quickly, there are plenty of budget-friendly options that cater to families looking for an unforgettable experience without breaking the bank.

1. Visit Seaside Towns

The British coastline is dotted with charming seaside towns that offer a delightful blend of traditional seaside amusements and natural beauty. Places like Bournemouth, Weymouth, and Whitby are perfect for families seeking a relaxing beach getaway. Many of these towns have affordable accommodation options, free beaches, and a variety of family-friendly attractions like arcades, mini-golf courses, and traditional fish and chip shops.

2. Explore National Parks

The U.K. boasts an incredible network of National Parks, each offering breathtaking landscapes and ample opportunities for outdoor adventures. The Peak District, Lake District, and Snowdonia are just a few examples where families can enjoy hiking, cycling, and camping at a fraction of the cost of other vacation destinations. Many National Parks offer free entry, and camping is an affordable accommodation option for families on a tight budget.

3. Discover Historic Cities

Cities like York, Bath, and Cambridge are rich in history and culture, offering families a chance to explore ancient landmarks, museums, and charming streets without spending a fortune. Many of these cities offer free walking tours, which provide an excellent opportunity to learn about the local history and architecture. Additionally, many museums offer discounted or free admission for children, making these destinations a budget-friendly choice for families.

4. Embrace the Great Outdoors

The U.K. is home to numerous outdoor attractions that are perfect for families on a budget. From hiking trails in the Yorkshire Dales to exploring the stunning gardens of the National Trust properties, there are countless opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors without breaking the bank. Pack a picnic and spend a day exploring the countryside, or take advantage of free outdoor events and festivals held throughout the year.

5. Plan Ahead and Look for Deals

One of the best ways to save money on a family vacation in the U.K. is to plan ahead and look for deals. Book accommodation and transportation well in advance to secure the best rates, and consider visiting during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall) when prices are often lower. Additionally, many attractions and museums offer discounted rates for families or free admission for children, so be sure to research and take advantage of these offers.

Whether you're seeking a coastal escape, a chance to explore the great outdoors, or a journey through history, the U.K. offers a wealth of affordable family vacation options. With a little planning and creativity, you can create lasting memories without breaking the bank.
