Question:

How does a person go about looking for cheap deals on flying into Europe... Preferably in the Italy and Greece region. We have a course of action for when we get there but we just want to find a reasonable flight into the area and go from there.... Basically keeping an eye on multiple possibilities then taking the budget Airlines to a more specific location

Skyscanner.com I live in Europe and use it all the time but before buying, I double check the price on the airline's website. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy directly from them. There are many smaller airlines which may not show on skyscanner so the challenge usually is finding the airlines.

Depending when you fly wait for deals!!! lufthansa just had a crazy good deal to Europe a couple of weeks ago!! I normally do that and check in google flights which days / weeks are cheapest...

westjet has cheap flights into London gatwick (some days in sept as low as $211!!!) and then fly into your city of choice from there. Can get flights to Italy and Greece for under €100. Use google flights or skyscanner

air transat is another inexpensive carrier to take to London then fly out on cheap intereurope carriers - I use skyscanner and edreams to check out flights - I also use GoEuro to compare ground transport, train and plane flights, I also check with rome2rio for options as well (can usually get flights to europe and 2 to 3 inter european flights for about $1100 per person or less)

Check out airfarewatchdog.com. you can select where you are leaving from and going to and select your dates...it then compares multiple third party sites and emails you when the price drops. Many people say not to use these kind of sites because their customer service is garbage. But if you're just booking and won't need to change anything...its perfect. I've used it multiple times. I got a flight to Greece for $600

That's great! That's exactly what I'm looking for! I am not in need a customer service. I know my dates, we are pretty flexible about layovers and stopovers... We just want to find the best price out there.

Should work well for you then
I've gotten a few international flights...in Europe and Asia for amazing prices!

Also just note that if you get an email that the price has dropped, you sometimes need to jump on it right away. I've missed out on deals by taking too long to decide.

Also be sure to note that all prices on Airfarewatchdog are in $USD.

I used skyscanner all the time when I was doing exchange in Milan. Budget airlines such as easy jet and ryanair are generally the cheapest. Be aware of the carry on size restrictions of budget airlines though. They are quite strict and would ask you to pay to check luggage even if it's just a slight bit oversize.

Finding Cheap Flights to Italy and Greece

Traveling to Europe, especially the stunning regions of Italy and Greece, can be an unforgettable experience. However, one of the biggest expenses can be the cost of flights. If you're looking to explore these beautiful destinations on a budget, here are some tips for finding cheap deals on flights.

Be Flexible with Dates and Destinations

Flexibility is key when it comes to finding affordable flights. Being open to different travel dates and nearby airports can significantly reduce costs. Consider flying into major European hubs like Rome, Milan, or Athens, and then taking budget airlines or trains to your final destination.

Use Flight Search Engines and Price Comparison Tools

There are numerous flight search engines and price comparison websites that can help you find the best deals. Some popular options include:

  • Skyscanner
  • Kayak
  • Google Flights
  • Momondo

These tools allow you to search for flights across multiple airlines and dates, making it easier to find the most affordable options.

Subscribe to Airline Newsletters and Follow Them on Social Media

Airlines often offer exclusive deals and promotions through their newsletters and social media channels. Subscribe to the newsletters of your preferred airlines and follow them on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to stay updated on any special offers or flash sales.

Consider Budget Airlines

While major airlines can be expensive, budget airlines like Ryanair, EasyJet, and Wizz Air offer incredibly low fares for flights within Europe. These airlines often have base prices that exclude additional fees for baggage, seat selection, and other services, so be sure to factor those costs into your overall budget.

Be Flexible with Stopovers

If you're open to stopovers, you may be able to find cheaper flights with connections. However, keep in mind that longer layovers can add time and potential stress to your travel plans.

Book in Advance or Take Advantage of Last-Minute Deals

Booking your flights well in advance can often result in lower prices, but it's also worth keeping an eye out for last-minute deals. Airlines sometimes offer discounted fares to fill unsold seats closer to the departure date.

With a bit of patience, flexibility, and a willingness to explore different options, you can find affordable flights to Italy and Greece, allowing you to experience the beauty and culture of these regions without breaking the bank.
