Sorry for the late reply. We booked via autoeurope for Europcar from Bari airport and drop off at Brindisi airport. Options were very limited as we needed automatic.
I would avoid renting from Termini only as I heard driving in Major cities is crazy.

We are taking the train from brindisi to termini. Still had to select car drop off at airport as there was no option near the train station

<p>Exploring Puglia, Italy with Kids

Exploring Puglia, Italy with Kids

Puglia, the heel of Italy's boot, is a captivating destination known for its stunning coastline, charming towns, and delicious cuisine. If you're planning a family vacation with two kids (4 years and 1 year old) to this region in September, you're in for a treat! Here are some tips and recommendations to make the most of your two-week stay.

Attractions and Activities

  • Alberobello: This picturesque town is famous for its unique trulli houses, cone-shaped stone dwellings with whitewashed walls. Wander through the narrow streets and let your kids marvel at these fairytale-like structures.
  • Polignano a Mare: This coastal town boasts stunning cliffs and crystal-clear waters. Take a stroll along the promenade, visit the beach, and enjoy the breathtaking views.
  • Lecce: Known as the "Florence of the South," Lecce is a baroque gem with intricate stone carvings and beautiful churches. Explore the historic center and let your kids run around in the charming piazzas.
  • Bari: The capital of Puglia offers a blend of history, culture, and modern vibrancy. Visit the old town, the Basilica of St. Nicholas, and the seaside promenade.
  • Beaches: Puglia is blessed with countless stunning beaches. Some family-friendly options include Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve, Lido Bizzarro, and the beaches around Ostuni.

Restaurants and Culinary Experiences

  • Osteria del Tempo Perso (Lecce): This cozy restaurant serves delicious Puglian cuisine in a charming setting. Try the orecchiette pasta and the local wines.
  • Pescheria 2 Mari (Polignano a Mare): Enjoy fresh seafood and stunning views at this seaside restaurant.
  • Masseria Il Frantoio (Ostuni): Experience a traditional masseria (fortified farmhouse) and savor local dishes made with farm-fresh ingredients.
  • Panificio Fiore (Bari): This bakery is a must-visit for its delectable focaccia and other baked goods.
  • Gelato Shops: Indulge in the region's famous gelato at places like Natale (Lecce), Baci di Latte (Bari), and Ciro e Peppe (Alberobello).

Driving and Getting Around

Renting a car is highly recommended for exploring Puglia at your own pace. The region has well-maintained roads, and driving allows you to visit multiple towns and attractions. However, be prepared for narrow streets in some historic centers and limited parking spaces. Consider renting a smaller vehicle for easier maneuvering.

Alternatively, you can rely on public transportation (
