I like the city tour and everything about it. Locals are so friendly, my inlaws live there 6 months of the year.

Stone Island. There is a little ferry that takes you over there. Beautiful beach and outdoor restaurants where you can hang out for the day on lounge chairs, eat and drink. Old town Mazatlán is nice as well. If you like art and culture it is a great place to explore.

Sharron I stayed here and it was awesome. Food and staff were great!

Tera We ended up renting an ocean front condo. Got a great deal, and thought we'd try something different this time,

Just came back from there. It's lovely. Old part is the best. Stroll the Malecon, for sure hike to the El Faro lighthouse. The marcado amd machada are great. the old architechture and colorful buildings are delightful.

I lived in MZT for 6years! It’s amazing there. Don’t listen to all the silly cartel talk and “tequila” silliness...
1. Stone Island for sure. Day trip, sit under palapas, drink, eat, go for a swim.
2. Walk along Malecon (it’s a promenade that stretches all the way from the Old Town to the Golden Zone)
3. Ride a Pulmonia! It’s the local taxis - which are converted golf carts! Let your hair down, grab your camera and enjoy the sights!
4. Watch the Malecon Cliff Divers. Just by the Old Town, you’ll see the Cliff divers.
5. Have lunch or dinner at Te Amo Lucy’s!! Authentic Mexican food in the heart of the old town.
6. Go and be entertained for dinner at Casa Country in the Golden Zone and make sure to order the guacamole
7. Sit outside and people watch while you drink a margarita at copa de Leche. Their house made salsa and chips are worth visiting more than once!
8. Spend the day on the rooftop pool at The Hotel Freeman. Just make sure to purchase beers/drinks and tip your server...even if you are not staying in the hotel, as long as you “take care of the staff” you should be allowed to take a dip
9. Check out Playa Bruja. Their seafood platter is to die for. I do STRONGLY recommend heading there only by day and if you are able to, take a local who knows the area with you. While it is safe, there have been reports in the past of some scammers in area.
10. There’s so much shopping to do. Spend a day walking through the Golden Zone. From hammocks, clothing, furniture to local artisans, there’s something for everyone.

Discover the Enchanting Charms of Mazatlán: A Comprehensive Guide to Unforgettable Experiences and Cautions
Nestled along Mexico's Pacific coast, Mazatlán is a vibrant city that captivates visitors with its stunning beaches, historic charm, and lively atmosphere. From thrilling water sports to cultural immersion, this coastal paradise offers a myriad of experiences that cater to every taste. However, like any destination, Mazatlán has its quirks and potential pitfalls to be aware of. To ensure your trip is both memorable and safe, let's dive into the best things to do and what to avoid in this captivating city.
Best Things to Do in Mazatlán
1. Bask in the Sun at Playa Olas Altas
Undoubtedly, Mazatlán boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico. Playa Olas Altas, located in the heart of the city's historic district, is a must-visit. Its golden sands and gentle waves create the perfect setting to relax, swim, or simply soak up the sun.
2. Explore the Historic Center
Mazatlán's historic center is a treasure trove of architectural wonders and cultural heritage. Stroll along the cobblestone streets, admire the beautifully preserved colonial buildings, and delve into the city's rich history at Museo Arqueológico de Mazatlán.
3. Embark on a Bioluminescence Tour
As darkness descends, Mazatlán transforms into a magical wonderland. Take a bioluminescence tour of Estero El Salado, a lagoon home to microscopic organisms that emit a dazzling blue light when disturbed. It's an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe.
4. Discover the Golden Zone
The Golden Zone is Mazatlán's bustling tourist hub, where you'll find an array of shopping malls, restaurants, and nightlife options. From designer boutiques to lively nightclubs, there's something for everyone in this vibrant district.
5. Go Snorkeling or Diving
Mazatlán's underwater world is teeming with marine life. Whether you're a seasoned diver or a snorkeling novice, explore the vibrant coral reefs and encounter colorful fish, playful sea lions, and even friendly dolphins.
What to Avoid in Mazatlán
1. Avoid Swimming in Unprotected Waters
While Mazatlán's beaches are generally safe for swimming, it's essential to be cautious of strong currents and riptides. Always swim in designated areas or near a lifeguard.
2. Be Wary of Overpriced Restaurants
The Golden Zone is known for its tourist traps. Be sure to research restaurants before dining out to avoid overpriced and mediocre food.
3. Respect Local Customs
Mazatlán is a conservative city. Dress modestly and avoid public displays of affection. Additionally, be aware of local laws and regulations to ensure a respectful and safe trip.
4. Stay Alert at Night
Like any city, Mazatlán has areas that are less safe at night. Avoid walking alone in isolated areas, and be aware of your surroundings.
5. Protect Your Valuables
As with any tourist destination, petty theft can occur in Mazatlán. Be vigilant with your belongings, especially in crowded areas.
By embracing these recommendations, you can fully immerse yourself in Mazatlán's captivating charm while ensuring a safe and unforgettable adventure. ¡Buen viaje!
