Hi, I was wondering if anyone even used airbnb to stay anywhere in the States? (New York City for example). If yes, what opinions could you share about the experience? Would you recommend it over traditional accommodations such as hotels and B&Bs? Thanks

Stayed in an airbnb in NYC. Loved it. Way better for us than a hotel. 4 women, 1 bedroom apartment. 1 queen, 2 doubles, 1 sofa bed. Perfect.

In NYC you can find decent hotels for cheap..I stayed at the Holiday inn express in Hetald Square ( right across Macy!) For $100 per night and they have free wifi and breakfast! Can't beat that!

used it in Toronto, and in 2 weeks Costa Rica, so far so good!

It was between 2nd and 3rd ave. on 12th St. Don't see the listing now. It might be one that rents when its vacant of long term rentals.

I used it in NYC, stayed in the Upper East Side. Great area & waaayyyyy cheaper than a hotel. Also used it in San Diego. Loved the experience both times

used it in new York city, Miami , great experiances both times , people were wonderful!

We've used it with great success in San Fran, London, Paris, Rome and Florence.

I haved used it very happily in San Fran, NYC, Chicago, Austin, Nashville, San Juan, tulum, Mexico City, Lisbon and probably a few more I am forgetting.
By far my favorite choice for accommodations anywhere.

Used it many times in US (Sanibel Island, San Fran, Boston) and worldwide. Out of 10+ reservations we only had issues once (in Florence, Italy) - the pictures were from different place...

We have used it in BC and Costa Rica, and family have used it in Brooklyn; all with positive experience! Clean, courteous, convenient and very reasonable!

I have used it it nyc but be careful not to send money any other ways outside of airbnb

Have used it in Turkey, Vancouver, the Azores, and Kauai (in that order). 3 of the 4 were great experiences. In Turkey, the guy had a new girlfriend, and let's just say the walls were a bit thin. Hoping to write up a blog post soon with what I've learned from using it so far.

I love airbnb and will be using it again in 3 countries in South America next month.

We used it in San Francisco, and stayed in one of the nicest, 2 floor condos I've ever seen for $200 per night. Would recommend over almost any hotel.

we just used it bangkok thailand, amazing! so after a month of travelling this was one of our oasis in thailand, what we really liked about it instead of a hotel, was that we were in a local neighbourhood, away from all the tourist, so we felt like we got the "real" experience.

p.s and once again since you are not dealing with a large company with written in stone policies, we loved that we took the night bus to bangkok arriving at 5am, and the owner let us check in.

Thanks all, yet this time we decided to stay at a hotel. We used priceline to bid, got a really nice 4 star hotel in Midtown West for a great price!
