My husband and I just came back from Playa on Sunday. Felt very safe everywhere. I was surprised. We airbnb far down 5th Avenue but even there it felt very safe.
Karen
Carrie thank you! Great to know
Donna
Carrie Hi Carrie, where did you stay exactly? My girlfriends and I used to go every other year to this one place right on the beach but two years ago when we got there, there was almost no beach, did you find that too? Thanks for your time.
Brenda

I am going Down in 2 weeks, solo, as I have an apartment under construction there and want to check on it. From what I know and have seen, there are a lot of solo travellers there.... Tons of digital nomads, people finding themselves, etc., and have read and seen that they have had no problems. The usual problems apply.... Not having anyone to hang out with... But that just forces one to be social. I frequent a ton of Playanese Facebook pages and know where the local hotspots are for hanging out. Long story short, I'm using this trip to start exploring to build a blog. Planning to be a temporary resident starting winter 2019.

Just take the normal precautions, being a woman in a foreign country....

It's fine the locals are super friendly
Karen
Andrew thanks!!
Andrea
Did it 2 years ago. Had no safety issues. Planning a 2 week solo trip now

Lots of catcalling but likely safe.

I've backpacked all throughout mexico no issues! Backpacked throughout that area twice. You're totally fine
Donna
We've never had problems, we're older, so no getting intoxicated in public places and no wandering around unfamiliar places after dark! Be respectful and responsible, you won't have a problem just a wonderful time. The sand and water are the best!! Have a great time!

Solo Female Travel to Playa Del Carmen: Safety Tips and Considerations
Playa Del Carmen is a beautiful coastal town located in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico, renowned for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich Mayan culture. While it's a popular destination for travelers, solo female travelers may have some concerns about safety. In this blog post, we'll discuss tips and considerations to help ensure a safe and enjoyable trip to Playa Del Carmen.
Safety Tips for Solo Female Travelers
Research and Planning
Before your trip, research the areas you plan to visit and familiarize yourself with local customs and laws. Read travel advisories and reviews from other solo female travelers to get a better understanding of potential risks and safety concerns.
Stay in Safe Areas
When choosing accommodation, opt for hotels or vacation rentals in well-known and reputable areas. Avoid staying in isolated or poorly-lit areas, especially if you're traveling alone.
Be Mindful of Your Surroundings
When exploring Playa Del Carmen, be aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts. Avoid walking alone at night in deserted areas, and stick to well-lit and populated streets. Consider using rideshare services or taxis for transportation at night.
Protect Your Valuables
Keep your valuables, such as cash, credit cards, and electronics, secure and out of sight. Use anti-theft bags or money belts to store your essentials while traveling.
Stay Connected
Share your travel itinerary with family or friends back home, and keep them updated on your whereabouts. Consider getting a local SIM card or using a reliable international data plan to stay connected and access emergency services if needed.
Playa Del Carmen: A Safe Destination with Precautions
Despite some safety concerns, Playa Del Carmen is generally considered a safe destination for solo female travelers, especially in tourist areas. However, it's essential to exercise caution and follow basic safety precautions, just as you would in any other unfamiliar place.
By being aware of your surroundings, staying in safe areas, and taking appropriate precautions, you can enjoy all that Playa Del Carmen has to offer as a solo female traveler. Remember to trust your instincts, and don't hesitate to seek help or advice from local authorities or your accommodation staff if you ever feel unsafe.
Safe travels, and enjoy your time in the beautiful Playa Del Carmen!
