Book yourself a room in the heart of the city and explore. Depending on the time you land and when you leave, you may get to see some of the great sites. If not, enjoy a great meal, walk around to experience the energy of Lisbon and then maybe seeing some of the sites early in the morning. Lisbon is amazing. It’s the reason why I moved to the city. Portugal Travel is a great group to help you plan

I was there in 2019. I'd stay in the Terreiro do Paço (Praça do Comércio) area or ALfama area. It is amazing. There is a whole area there with shops and coffee shops if you want to shop jsut past the arches. The Alfma is is super cool and they have shows with fado music which was very cool if you want some culture at night. There is the famous yellow tram you can take up the hill there too and a castle at the top with a 360 degree view of the area... Its only 20 minutes form airport and They have UBER everywhere. Have a blast Portugal is amazing!

If you have time, jump in a TukTuk. You'll see most of the good stuff at a decent price and little time wasted. Here are the contact details of the guide we had in September. Tell him Tom sent you lol. Oh, and can you ask if I dropped my glasses in the back seat.

I will be there on July 31

Exploring Lisbon During a Layover
If you find yourself with a long layover in Lisbon overnight and have never been there before, there are plenty of options to pass the time and explore this beautiful city.
1. Visit Belém
Belém is a historic district in Lisbon known for its iconic landmarks such as the Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery. Take a stroll along the waterfront, enjoy a traditional pastel de nata at Pastéis de Belém, and visit the Discoveries Monument.
2. Explore Alfama
Alfama is the oldest district in Lisbon, characterized by its narrow streets, colorful buildings, and stunning views of the city. Visit São Jorge Castle, wander through the charming alleys, and listen to traditional Fado music in one of the local restaurants.
3. Take a Tram 28 Ride
Tram 28 is a historic tram line that takes you through some of Lisbon's most picturesque neighborhoods, including Alfama, Baixa, and Graça. Hop on the tram for a scenic ride and a unique way to see the city.

Lisbon is known for its delicious food, so take the opportunity to sample some traditional Portuguese dishes. Try bacalhau (salted cod), grilled sardines, and seafood rice at a local restaurant or food market.
5. Watch the Sunset at Miradouro da Senhora do Monte
For a breathtaking view of Lisbon and the Tagus River, head to Miradouro da Senhora do Monte in the Graça neighborhood. Watch the sunset over the city and enjoy a peaceful moment before heading back to the airport.
