Does anyone have any tips for NYC end of Sept? Hotel savings (4* min) or fun atmosphere restaurants?

Subway system takes you EVERYWHERE! Don't be afraid to stay a bit out of Manhattan for hotel savings. Long island city is 20 mins away. If you look at hotel map you can see where the stations are marked with a M in relation to hotel.

I didn't find the hotel rating mattered too much as we weren't there a lot. We stayed at the Salisbury and it was good. Found Manhattan pricey though, $10 American for a beer. We made and cancelled reservations three times to get a better deal worked out pretty good. Used Snap Travel among others.

We just stayed at the best western plus hospitality suites and were amazed at the size. It is right on E49 between Lexington and 3rd. It was a 1 bedroom apartment with kitchen, living room, bathroom. It felt like home away from home. They also give you a pass for the YMCA so you can use the gym/pool.

Get a CityPass, but don't waste it on the MOMA or Natural History Museum - both are actually by donation (they just don't advertise it), so you can get in for less than the posted price if you're on a budget.

Reserve a window side table at the restaurant at the top of the Mandarin Oriental hotel at Columbus circle. Beautiful view of Central Park

Krista it’s a pricy restaurant but I recommend going for a nice breakfast at 9am or so. Then you can see the beautiful view and spend way less on the meal!

NYC End of September Tips

New York City is a great place to visit anytime of year, but there's something special about the end of September. The weather is still warm and sunny, but the crowds have died down a bit. Plus, there are plenty of fun events and activities happening around the city.

Hotel Savings

If you're looking to save money on your hotel stay, there are a few things you can do. First, try to book your room in advance. The earlier you book, the more likely you are to get a good deal. Second, consider staying in a less popular neighborhood. Hotels in Midtown Manhattan are typically more expensive than hotels in other parts of the city. Third, look for hotels that offer discounts or packages. Many hotels offer discounts for AAA members, seniors, and military personnel.

Fun Atmosphere Restaurants

New York City is home to some of the best restaurants in the world. If you're looking for a fun atmosphere, here are a few places to check out:

  • The Smith: This restaurant is known for its lively atmosphere and its creative American cuisine.
  • The Spotted Pig: This gastropub is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. It's known for its delicious food and its friendly staff.
  • Minetta Tavern: This historic tavern is a great place to enjoy a classic New York City meal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food is delicious.

Other Tips

Here are a few other tips for making the most of your trip to New York City in late September:

  • Visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island: These two iconic landmarks are a must-see for any visitor to New York City. Take a ferry to Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty up close, and then visit Ellis Island to learn about the history of immigration in the United States.
  • See a Broadway show: Broadway shows are a great way to experience the city's vibrant theater scene. There are dozens of shows to choose from, so you're sure to find something that interests you.
  • Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art: This world-renowned museum is home to a vast collection of art from all over the world. You could easily spend an entire day exploring the Met's many galleries.

New York City is a city that has something to offer everyone. Whether you're looking for culture, history, or just a good time, you're sure to find it in the Big Apple.
