Rainy Weekend Fun on Saltspring Island

Saltspring Island is a beautiful destination, even when the weather isn't sunny. If you're renting a house for a four-day stay on the island, there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to keep you entertained during a rainy weekend.

Indoor Activities

  • Salt Spring Island Cheese Company: Visit this family-owned cheese farm and sample their delicious artisanal cheeses. You can even take a tour and learn about the cheese-making process.
  • ArtCraft Gallery: Browse through this extensive collection of local arts and crafts, including pottery, jewelry, paintings, and more.
  • Salt Spring Saturday Market: If the rain is light, consider visiting the famous Saturday Market, where you can find locally grown produce, handmade crafts, and delicious street food.
  • Movie Night: Rent a cozy movie and spend an evening relaxing in your rental house, enjoying a classic film or a new release.

Outdoor Activities

  • Hiking: Pack your rain gear and explore some of the island's scenic hiking trails, like the Channel Ridge Trail or the Mount Erskine Trail.
  • Kayaking or Canoeing: Rent a kayak or canoe and explore the island's coastline and inlets, taking in the beautiful scenery from the water.
  • Birdwatching: Saltspring Island is a birdwatcher's paradise. Even in the rain, you can spot a variety of species like bald eagles, great blue herons, and various types of waterfowl.
  • Beach Combing: Spend some time exploring the island's beaches, searching for unique shells, driftwood, and other treasures left behind by the tide.

No matter the weather, Saltspring Island offers a wealth of activities to keep you entertained and immersed in the island's natural beauty and local culture. Embrace the rain and make the most of your four-day stay on this charming island.
