I wouldn’t rent the car in Montreal, take the train between the two and then rent the car in Toronto instead, if you like wine tours, there is definitely some good ones in the niagara area, hockey hall of fame is great if you are a sports fan, in Montreal definitely spend a day or two in old Montreal and take in a tour of the notre dame basilica
Reg
Boyd - and St Joseph’s Oratory.
Boyd
Reg oh? Haven’t been there will include the next time
Reg
Boyd - quite a magnificent place. I am not particularly religious, but even I felt like I had visited a Holy place.
Shelna
Recommend the Hop on Hop off in Quebec City
Michael
Take the train from Montreal to Quebec City ( or even from Toronto) stay in the old town - lots of smaller boutique hotels in the old town
Reg
Michael - Agreed. The trains are frequent, fast, and very reasonable.
Joanne
Check out Prince Edward County south of BELLEVILLE. Lots of amazing local wineries, breweries and Sandbanks provincial park. Fantastic huge sandy beach.
Maggie
Accommodation close to St Denis, can't remember the cross street. Maybe Sherbrooke

I would suggest dinning at Le Jardin de Panos, just off St. Denis https://m.lejardindepanos.com/

Car rentals in Quebec are tricky to take out of the province if at all. Take the train!
Susanne
Elaine I agree, train is great
Wendy
Skip Niagara Falls. Too touristy. Via rail instead of car rental.
Colin
When in Quebec City, we stayed at the delta on Réne Lévesque. Just two blocks from everywhere
Best poutine in the world is 2 blocks from there, too! Snackbar St. Jean is a must do.

Susanne awesome!

In QC, go to Aux Anciens Canadiens restaurant - amazing! Funiculars to Lower Town. In Montreal visit Rue At Denis and the Plateau. Lots to see and places to eat. Le Jardin Botaniqiue is lovely as is the Mountain. On the way to Toronto stop at the Thousand Islands and Kingston. Upper Canada Village too.
Louise
When visiting Niagara Falls, the main attraction is the Falls. I would skip everything else. Niagara-on-the -Lake is worth going to, and of course Maid of the Mist is amazing! In Montreal be sure and visit old Montreal.
Dominiqu
Quebec City is a 2 hours drive east from Montreal, Niagara Falls is a good 9 hour drive west from Montreal. Hopefully you have lots of time ! Montreal is a great City, in the summer tons of festivals etc. Go up Mount Royal, go to the museums, the Biodome, Old Montreal, St Denis Street. Get bagels at Fairmont Bagel, go eat at L’Express Restaurant on St Denis St. Get patisseries at La Patisserie Belge.
Dominiqu
If you’re a carnivore Schwartz’s Deli is worth going to for a real Montreal smoked meat sandwich

Discovering Montreal, Quebec City, and Niagara Falls
Hi there! Your planned trip to Montreal, Quebec City, and Niagara Falls sounds like an exciting adventure. Here are some suggestions to help you make the most of your visit.
Where to Stay in Montreal
For your stay in Montreal, I recommend booking a hotel in the Old Port (Vieux-Port) or Downtown areas. These neighborhoods offer easy access to many of the city's top attractions, restaurants, and shops.
- Old Port (Vieux-Port): This historic area is perfect for those who love charming cobblestone streets, old-world architecture, and a vibrant atmosphere. Some great options in this area include Hotel Nelligan and Auberge du Vieux-Port.
- Downtown: If you prefer a more modern and bustling environment, consider staying in Downtown Montreal. The area around Crescent Street and Rue Sainte-Catherine offers plenty of hotels, restaurants, and nightlife. Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel and the Hilton Garden Inn Montreal Centre-Ville are both excellent choices.
Where to Stay in Quebec City
In Quebec City, the best area to stay is within the Old Town (Vieux-Québec), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic district is filled with charming streets, cafes, and attractions.
- Auberge Saint-Antoine and Fairmont Le Château Frontenac are both luxurious options right in the heart of Old Town.
- For a more budget-friendly option, consider Hotel Champlain Vieux Quebec or Hotel Manoir Victoria.
