Hi everyone! My husband and I are planning a trip to visit , Montreal, Quebec City, and NiagaraFalls in August. We’re planning to fly to Montreal and rent a car and drive to Niagara Falls and fly back from Toronto . Any suggestions as which part of Montreal and Quebec City we should book a hotel and what to see and where to eat . Thank you

I wouldn’t rent the car in Montreal, take the train between the two and then rent the car in Toronto instead, if you like wine tours, there is definitely some good ones in the niagara area, hockey hall of fame is great if you are a sports fan, in Montreal definitely spend a day or two in old Montreal and take in a tour of the notre dame basilica

Boyd - quite a magnificent place. I am not particularly religious, but even I felt like I had visited a Holy place.

Recommend the Hop on Hop off in Quebec City

Take the train from Montreal to Quebec City ( or even from Toronto) stay in the old town - lots of smaller boutique hotels in the old town

Michael - Agreed. The trains are frequent, fast, and very reasonable.

Check out Prince Edward County south of BELLEVILLE. Lots of amazing local wineries, breweries and Sandbanks provincial park. Fantastic huge sandy beach.

Accommodation close to St Denis, can't remember the cross street. Maybe Sherbrooke

Take the train to Toronto it also stops in Niagara Falls

In Quebec City, near Rue St Jean or Rue Cartier.

Quebec City... stay in st roch or right out of the walls in st Jean Baptiste or near Cartier

Inside the walls is way too touristy imho!

Car rentals in Quebec are tricky to take out of the province if at all. Take the train!

Skip Niagara Falls. Too touristy. Via rail instead of car rental.

When in Quebec City, we stayed at the delta on Réne Lévesque. Just two blocks from everywhere
Best poutine in the world is 2 blocks from there, too! Snackbar St. Jean is a must do.

In QC, go to Aux Anciens Canadiens restaurant - amazing! Funiculars to Lower Town. In Montreal visit Rue At Denis and the Plateau. Lots to see and places to eat. Le Jardin Botaniqiue is lovely as is the Mountain. On the way to Toronto stop at the Thousand Islands and Kingston. Upper Canada Village too.

For MTL, rent an airbnb in the Mile-End, plateau or St-Henri neighborhoods.

When visiting Niagara Falls, the main attraction is the Falls. I would skip everything else. Niagara-on-the -Lake is worth going to, and of course Maid of the Mist is amazing! In Montreal be sure and visit old Montreal.

Quebec City is a 2 hours drive east from Montreal, Niagara Falls is a good 9 hour drive west from Montreal. Hopefully you have lots of time ! Montreal is a great City, in the summer tons of festivals etc. Go up Mount Royal, go to the museums, the Biodome, Old Montreal, St Denis Street. Get bagels at Fairmont Bagel, go eat at L’Express Restaurant on St Denis St. Get patisseries at La Patisserie Belge.

If you’re a carnivore Schwartz’s Deli is worth going to for a real Montreal smoked meat sandwich
