Consider visiting cinque terre. It was beautiful and we did it all in one day

The official train site https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html is actually fantastic. It is available in English. I used it earlier this year for a trip in Tuscany -- couldn't have worked better.

For Sorrento to Rome, I think you have to go through Naples. The easiest way to commute from Naples to Sorrento is via the train. The Circumvesuviana train
Michelle
Train from Naples to Sorrento
Chris
Check out www.rometorio.com it’s the bomb for figuring out transportation options and all ways to get to destinations with links and approx costs
David
Take a really good warm sweater and a rain jacket. You’ll need it.

Following because we are basically doing the same trip in April as well lol. Only we fly into Milan down to Cinque Terre, Pisa,Rome, Sorrento, Naples/Pompeii
Milan has the last supper which will be worth seeing we spend 2 days there and are making a day trip up to Bellagio/Lake Como
Monica
Jason we are doing the Bellagio/Lake Como region as well! And doing a daytrip to Pisa. We are currently looking into tours on expedia
Jason
Also download the app rome2rio it helps you plot out transportation options as well estimated costs.
Free now, is another app we were told about which is apparently like uber but for cabs
Alyssa
Car service from Naples to the Amalfi Coast. Can stop at Herculaneum and Pompeii along the way and not worry about your luggage. Totally worth the price.
Sylvia
Bring your hip waders for Venice.

I went to Italy for my honeymoon and part of it was in Sorrento. Loved that part the most. Take a day trip to Pompeii. So worth it. Also bring/buy mosquito repellant. Small fountains with standing pools of water everywhere breeds lots of mosquitoes.

When we did Rome to Vico Equense (a small town near Sorrento) we took the train from Rome to Naples, and then the Circumvesuviana (commuter train).
Diamond
If you're going to Pompeii, also try to get to the Archaeological museum in Naples. It has all the artwork, sculptures, frescoes, and mosaics that have been removed from Pompeii. It fills in a lot of the gaps.

I visited all these places in August and Believe me you These are the best places to visit in Italy . Stay in Sorrento and wander about from there . Capri , Positano are just amazing . There are plenty of options for transportation as per your budget and convenience. Have a good one !

We had a lovely meal at Osteria Oliva Nera in Venice. Not sure if it's still a good pick, but the meal was amazing and it was a very friendly atmosphere.

We just went from Sorrento to Rome in September and we took Flix bus, everyone I saw normally takes the train but I liked the bus it was 1/3 the price only took about 1 hour longer and it was direct with no stops, so if your skipping Pompeii I would recommend it. Buying tickets through the online app was sooo simple we used the bus all throughout Italy and Europe and the tickets are dirt cheap, and the ride was comfortable no complaints

The outdoor market in Florence... but not if you’re vegans. Oh so much beautiful leather!
And Pompeii (a train ride from Rome) was a huge highlight! Tough to beat walking through the streets from 79AD.
Patricia
Carmen pompeii is a must! Do the tour...amazing
Sarah
In Florence wander the streets and you’ll likely see most of the sites. If you want to see inside any museums pay extra for the skip the line. If your in need of anything leather, visit mercato di San Lorenzo. Say you’ll think about it, start to walk away and they’ll give you your price. Paid $80 for a beautiful Italian leather purse. Visit the thermal baths in Saturnia, early morning. They’re beyond words. Tuscany was actually our favourite for food and scenery and low cost. Visit an organic winery and make pasta. On the Amalfi we really enjoyed staying away from the hectic tourist locals and focusing on the view. Rented a beautiful apartment overlooking the ocean in the town of Positano. Loved the vibe here. You can grab fresh pasta from the corner stores and cook up dinner, eat at amazing restaurants overlooking the water and enjoy a lounge chair at the pirate beach club. Hiking the path of the gods in the area also very nice.

My husband and I are doing a late honeymoon and headed to Italy in April.
We are flying into Venice and out of Naples.
We plan on visiting Venice, Milan, Florence, Rome, Sorrento (Almafi Coast &Capri as well), Naples. In that order.
Anything in particular that everyone recommends we see? Any particular accommodations we should look into and must try restaurants?
Also, how do we best book our trains from within Canada before we arrive in Italy? What's the best way to commte to Sorrento from Rome?
