Hi everyone! Planning a week long (possibly extending) island-hopping trip in Greece and centering ourselves around Mykonos and Naxos. Looking for recommendations for activities on the isles! Will be travelling at the end of May.
Any recommendations on which nearby islands to visit and things to do? Also, how many nights should we stay on each island?

Santorini is the ultimate Greek Island. Looks like very post card ever seen. Black volcano stone beaches and yellow sand beaches with great food in the towns.

Thanks for the recommendations Jeannette! Would you recommend getting to Santorini from Mykonos by air or ferry?

Andy Chü the ferries a a great adventure. Not sure if it would be direct or via a couple other islands

Go to Santorini! Be sure to eat the swordfish. They served the weirdest looking dips which were also delicious.

We found Santorini a little bit boring, we preferred the beaches and activities in Mykonos by far. Another great island to visit is Ios. It’s quieter, cheaper, beautiful beaches and fun nightlife in the city of Chora.

Hi Krissy for Mykonos did you stay near the town centre or towards the south of the island near Ornos?

Andy Chü we stayed at the Petinos Beach Hotel, which is beautiful and right at Yialos beach. The bus to town picks up and drops off right outside the hotel door and was cheap. There is also a water taxi from Yialos beach to Paradise, Super Paradise, Elia and other beaches. I think it was 20 euro per person for the day. Make sure you bring your own towels, and be prepared to pay to rent a beach chair if you want one.

Island-Hopping in Greece: Mykonos and Naxos

Planning a week-long (possibly extending) island-hopping trip in Greece and centering ourselves around Mykonos and Naxos? Here are some recommendations for activities on the isles! You'll be traveling at the end of May.

Recommended nearby islands to visit:

  • Delos: A small, uninhabited island located just a short ferry ride from Mykonos. It's home to ancient ruins, including the Temple of Apollo and the Terrace of the Lions.
  • Paros: A larger island with beautiful beaches, charming villages, and a lively nightlife scene. It's a great place to relax and soak up the Greek atmosphere.
  • Antiparos: A smaller island known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and laid-back atmosphere. It's a great place to escape the crowds and enjoy some peace and quiet.

Recommended things to do on Mykonos:

  • Visit Little Venice: A picturesque waterfront area with charming cafes and shops. It's a great place to watch the sunset over the Aegean Sea.
  • Explore the Old Town: A maze of narrow streets and whitewashed buildings. It's home to many boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants.
  • Relax on the beaches: Mykonos is known for its beautiful beaches, including Psarou, Paradise, and Super Paradise.
  • Go clubbing: Mykonos has a lively nightlife scene, with many bars and clubs to choose from.

Recommended things to do on Naxos:

  • Visit the Temple of Demeter: A well-preserved ancient temple located on the island's west coast.
  • Explore the Venetian Castle: A 13th-century castle located in the town of Naxos. It offers stunning views of the island and the surrounding sea.
  • Relax on the beaches: Naxos has many beautiful beaches, including Agios Prokopios, Agia Anna, and Plaka.
  • Go hiking: There are many hiking trails on Naxos, offering stunning views of the island's landscape.

Recommended number of nights to stay on each island:

We recommend spending 3-4 nights in Mykonos and 3-4 nights in Naxos. This will give you enough time to explore each island and enjoy its unique offerings.
