Kellyann
We are taking a 9 month old, and three year old to Vietnam and Indonesia. Both countries love kids!
Cathy
not the Philippines. Thailand is great.
Heather
Thailand! Very family friendly, tons to do, safe for tourists
Ken
Definately go to Philippines, go to the provinces, there is thousands of beautiful beaches to go to.
Norbert
Thailand or Vietnam
Tracy
I have travelled to Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia with an infant and a toddler. All three are good in terms of travelling with children. I think it depends on what type of vacation you are looking for and which country attracts you more. If you need medical attention while in these countries (you never know what can happen) just go to health services that cater to expats for the best quality health care. Have fun!!!
Nicole
Philippines is super family-friendly. We never brought kids, but there were lots of families and had lots for kids!
Pamela
Thailand is super easy with kiddos, tons of food that’s safe and easy. But having been there quite a few times I found it dirty and too developed the last few times. I love Vietnam more. More culture, more affordable. Air Asia is great for short bouncing around flights. Also do Angkor watt. Amazing!!
Judy
These countries adore tourists. You and your family will definitely be treated well. Just make sure you have medical travel insurance just in case anything happens.
Travis
None of the above

Thailand or Vietnam, Thailand is a lot more seamless to travel within and much more English speaking, but both safe.
Emily
I did Thailand and Indonesia with my kids this year (ages 1 & 5). Both were crazy affordable and I never felt like they were unsafe except when we went to Sideman in Bali, the place we stayed was a total death trap. I don’t feel super safe in Jakarta though (maybe just the areas in the city I’ve stayed in?) so we skipped that having the kids this time, but Bali and the surrounding islands were great.
Nikki
Phillipines’s very friendly
Jonathan
Philippines
Deborah
Indonesia or Philippines
Cathy
It’s not that I think the Philippines aren’t “friendly”, but due to mine and other people’s bad experiences there, lack of wifi reliability, difficulty arranging transportation out of there quickly in case of emergency etc. I’d prefer Thailand or Vietnam as a destination with a child.
Winnie
Philippines
Terry
Yup
Richard
Philippines, but stay away from the major cities you won't enjoy it if you're going with family. Head to resorts by the beaches, there are tons of them.
Rhonda
Indonesia.
Ted
Anything but Philippines. Vietnamese LOVE kids, especially if they're blond haute, blue eyed.
Jonathan
Ted nice typo Ted lol
Ted
Blond, tall, and blue eyed.
Hey , when's your house warming?
Yyc
Why not PH? Just out of curiosity, I've been there 3 times so I'd like to hear your perspective!
Ted
1. Oppressive, anti-demoncratic, anti-rule-of-law government.
2. Threat of terrorism, kidnapping. MIndanao, and much of the south, is totally off the table.
3. Malaria, Dengue, Measles.
I read once (I make notes because I vlog about stuff like this) that compared to Singapore (been there as well), as a benchmark, Europe is about 5x more dangerous (murder/assaults ate), Thailand 10x, the US 20x.
Comparatively, the Philippines are 40x.
I know, I know, all countries have their dangerous parts, we can't paint the Philippines broadly with one wide brush. By all accounts, it is a beautiful country, but in terms of risk vs. reward, I think that each other those other countries (which I *have* been to) are better choices.
I can personally comment on Vietnam (HCMC and Danang), Indonesia (Bali, Johja), and Thailand (everywhere except for the southern peninsula). I would feel comfortable recommending any of those.
Having done my research, I could not for the Philippines.
Yyc
Well, I've been through about 6 or 7 regions throughout the Philippines (including parts of mindinao) and have yet to feel unsafe. Don't believe everything you read, as people are quick to scare. Yes, of course there are places you shouldn't go (you won't catch me in Sinaloa, MX or even Detroit) just like 4 provinces in west Mindinao.. But everywhere else I've been to has been amazing. The government doesn't affect tourism there, I think their only prerogative is to eliminate drug dealers (which I'm happy with myself). Kidnapping and terrorism can be anywhere in the world, more so in Europe than in Asia. And you're at almost zero risk of malaria or dengue if you don't frequent the jungle during mosquito times (dawn and dusk).
I recommend you going sometime, and if you're feeling unsafe for the south, then the Palawan region or Cebu Island would probably be right up your alley.
Just for reference, my wife grew up just outside the ARMM (autonomous region of Muslim mindinao, where it's unsafe to go) and she didn't die so..
Ted
Luke MacMillan One day I will. But for the same reason I won't go back to China or the US, Philippines remains off the table for a while. People are friendly and nice, I totally grant that. I will not support the government.
But you ignore my broader point (your POV is coloured by your love and your great experiences there), which is this: safe as you believe it to be, there are better destinations from the POV of Risk/Reward.
There simply are.
Yyc
Nope, fair point, I can't argue that. But we all have differing levels of what we deem risk. Some people are comfortable staying at the West Edmonton waterpark and Hotel for a week and calling that a vacation.
Best of luck in your travels!
Ted
Luke MacMillan When you travel with a family, you *do* have a different risk tolerance. And I'm not tlaking paranoia, here.
For example, as a soloist, I rented a car and drove the length and breadth of Tunisia. The same summer (unbeknownst to me) that a couple of Aussies were kidnapped by Al Qaida.
Wouldn't do that now, with my family. Wouldn't do that now by myself, either.
OTOH, I felt safe in Cambodia, all of Thailand, Laos with my girls. Check out my Vlog, if your;e interested in seeing some of what we've done.

I took my son to Thailand and Cambodia when he was 3.5-4.5months old and we went to Thailand and Veitnam when he was 2 years old. No problem just go to traveling clinic for recommodation about what shots you need to take before you all go there.
Yyc
Any of those locations would be fine I imagine! Shots would be your biggest concern, and just try to avoid typhoon season.. We were caught in a typhoon coming from Malapascua to Cebu at Christmas 2 years ago and I think with a child it would have been way worse.
Mackenzi
Thailand
Kam
All of the above.
Jay
it is never about which one is safer or not..it should be on what you really want to go explore. Asian countries are truly beautiful on their own ways, so as others. if u would ask, of course everyone has had some worst and great stories when it comes to these places.. as for travelling with a 2 year old, just make sure baby gets all its shots and should u know all allergens etc. there is danger everywhere, even outside ur backyard, but in the end as long as you are vigilant and always staying within limits i think u should be okay anywhere... im from the Philippines myself and so if ur curious I would say that even tho not a perfect grammar, they would try all their best to communicate with u with anything that u need. also, there are lots of great packages or deals of places to tour with tour guides and great transpo... or if u may, why not travel them all
Darin
You and the beauty come over this weekend and I will tell ya some personal stories.
Sally
Great fun Safe Happy places right here in Western Canada
Wanda
We spent 3 weeks in Indonesia with kids. Never once felt unsafe.
Larissa
One cost to consider are your vaccinations. Our son recently went to Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia and his shots were close to $800.
Ted
Hey Larissa, Ive spent five months in SE Asia, in those countries. There are no shots required, aside from regular vaccination. Make sure your tetanus and Twinrix are up to date, for sure. But you don't need Dengue, don't even need malarial prophylaxis for most of the region.
I do not think this is accurate.
Ted
Yep, just checked. This is for Cambodia. Vietnam and Thailand are similar. BTW, the Yellow fever requirement is only for if you *come* from a region with yellow fever.
Unless you've never been vaccinated before, there's nothing that you *need*. A few are ncie to have, for sure, but they are not required.
Larissa
Interesting. All were recommended by the travel clinic for Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand. I tend to just go with what the drs recommend
.
Lisa
Ted is correct. Been working in these areas for years. Just basic vacs and twinrix only.
Cathy
I was wondering about that too. We‘ve been going there the past five winters and haven‘t had any extra immunization.

Choosing the Best Destination for Traveling with a 2-Year-Old: Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, or the Philippines?
Traveling with a young child can be both exciting and challenging. When considering a destination for a 3-4 week trip with a 2-year-old, factors such as ease of travel, affordability, and safety become paramount. Among the options of Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines, each country offers its own unique experiences and considerations.
Thailand: A Family-Friendly Haven
Thailand is often hailed as a top destination for families traveling with young children. The country boasts a well-developed tourism infrastructure, making it relatively easy to navigate with a toddler in tow. Affordable accommodation options, ranging from family-friendly resorts to budget-friendly guesthouses, cater to various budgets. Additionally, Thailand is renowned for its delicious and child-friendly cuisine, allowing you to introduce your little one to new flavors without worrying about food safety.
Vietnam: A Cultural Adventure
Vietnam offers a rich cultural experience and breathtaking natural beauty. While travel logistics may be slightly more challenging with a young child, the country's affordability and welcoming locals make it a worthwhile option. From exploring vibrant cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to relaxing on pristine beaches, Vietnam provides a diverse range of activities. However, it's essential to exercise caution with street food and ensure your child's safety in bustling urban areas.
Indonesia: A Tropical Paradise
Indonesia's vast archipelago boasts stunning beaches, lush rainforests, and diverse cultures. Bali, in particular, is a popular destination for families, offering child-friendly resorts and activities. However, traveling with a 2-year-old across multiple islands may pose logistical challenges. Additionally, while Indonesia can be relatively affordable, some areas cater more to luxury travelers, which can impact your budget.
The Philippines: A Tropical Escape
The Philippines is a tropical paradise known for its beautiful beaches, friendly locals, and affordability. With a well-developed tourism industry, traveling with a young child can be relatively easy. However, it's essential to consider the potential risks associated with natural disasters, such as typhoons and earthquakes, which can disrupt travel plans and pose safety concerns.
Factors to Consider
- Ease of Travel: Thailand and the Philippines offer a more developed tourism infrastructure, making travel with a toddler more manageable.
- Affordability: Vietnam and the Philippines are generally more budget-friendly options, while Thailand and Indonesia can vary in cost depending on your chosen destinations and accommodations.
- Safety: All four countries have their own safety considerations, but Thailand and the Philippines are often regarded as relatively safe for families.
Ultimately, the decision will depend on your specific preferences, budget, and travel style. It's advisable to research each destination thoroughly, consult travel advisories, and plan accordingly to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip with your 2-year-old companion.
