My husband has a 1 night stop in London on his way home from Russia. He will arrive at LHR around 7pm and departs the next day at 2:15pm. Anyone have recommendations on where to stay or what to do to make the most of his overnight? Thanks

This past summer we had a transit evening in London. We stayed at Z Hotel Victoria which is beside Victoria Station (meaning can take train to/from airport) and also to all other areas to sightsee. I believe you might miss the complementary wine and cheese if you arrive at this time but we found that a great bonus. After the wine and cheese, we took subway to Piccadilly Market and from there walked all over which we enjoyed. We had been to all other major sightseeing spots from previous trips. The hotel was reasonable priced for London, very easy to get around, modern, friendly, and a great choice for us.

Take the train down to Brighton. The express train is only 23 min.
Brighton is a seaside resort with excellent shopping and restaurants. We would definitely go back there

Above 2 recommendations would be good if he was arriving at Gatwick but you mentioned LHR, Heathrow. In that case, I'd suggest that he takes the Piccadilly line to Central. Somewhere around Soho (think Leicester Square, Oxford Circus, etc) would be a good spot to stay, walking distance to all major sights except Tower Bridge and Tower of London, quick tube ride can get him there. Heathrow has left luggage/lockers if he wanted to leave any large suitcases there rather than taking them into Central and back the following day.

Apologies if I sound rude but I'm from the UK (lived in London three years) and many of the above are not great suggestions. I agree with Ana, if he's flying into LHR then his best bet is to stay somewhere on the Piccadilly line, perhaps around South Kensington. If he stayed there he could go to museums in South Kensington like Science and V&A or visit Kew Gardens, or be well placed to go for a walk along the South Bank (Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, London Eye etc) in the day and then go to Covent Garden in the evening where there are great restaurants and some good theatre etc it he's into that. If he's got a long journey then Brighton is far too long a trip. Let me know if you need specific restaurant recommendations

He’s considering taking a night bus tour from Green Park that starts at 930pm. His flight arrives LHR at 710pm. Do you feel he has enough time to make the tour? Thank you.

It depends a bit of if he has luggage to collect and how long immigration takes. It would be pushing things a bit and wouldn't leave much time to drop his stuff at the hotel.
