Fly into Phoenix and then enjoy the drive up through Joshua tree into AB
Paulette
as Jeannett says fly into Phoenix but then fly to Albuquerque can usually be done in about 6 to 7 hours total - the drive from Phoenix to Albuquerque would take you 8 hours or so wouldn't really shorten your transit time

But it's beautiful at least

Last time I got there via Seattle on Alaska.

AA sucks. Worst airline ever !
Pat
Try Allegiant out of Bellingham. You can connect in Las Vegas.
Jane
AA for Yvr-Phx, check out Southwest Airlines for Phx-abq. Joshua tree is in California, definitely not on the way from Phx to abq.

Tips for Reducing Flight Time and Costs to Albuquerque
Are you planning a trip to Albuquerque in June/July but are discouraged by the long flight times? Fear not! Here are some tips to help you lessen the length of time and save money on your airfare:
Consider Flying to a Nearby Airport
Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) is the main airport serving Albuquerque. However, you may be able to find shorter flights by flying to a nearby airport, such as Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF) or Tucson International Airport (TUS). From there, you can take a connecting flight or drive to Albuquerque.
Explore Connecting Flights with Multiple Stops
While direct flights are often more convenient, they may not always be the fastest or most economical option. Consider connecting flights with one or two stops. Although the total travel time may be longer, you may end up saving time by avoiding lengthy layovers.
Check for Hidden City Ticketing
Hidden city ticketing involves purchasing a ticket to a destination beyond Albuquerque but disembarking at ABQ. This can sometimes be cheaper than booking a direct flight to Albuquerque, but it's important to be aware of any potential risks, such as baggage fees or missed connections.
Take Advantage of Non-Peak Travel Times
June and July are peak travel months for Albuquerque, so flights tend to be more expensive and have longer layovers. If possible, consider traveling during off-peak times, such as September through May, to find cheaper and shorter flights.
Utilize Flight Search Engines
Use online flight search engines such as Google Flights, Kayak, or Skyscanner to compare flight options, prices, and durations. These tools can help you find the best deals and minimize travel time.
Be Flexible with Your Travel Dates
If you have flexibility with your travel dates, consider flying on less popular days, such as Tuesdays or Wednesdays. This can often result in lower fares and shorter layovers.
Consider Flying with Budget Airlines
Budget airlines, such as Southwest Airlines or Spirit Airlines, typically offer lower fares but may have additional fees or restrictions. However, if you're looking to save money and don't mind sacrificing some amenities, this could be an option to consider.
Remember:
It's important to weigh the cost and time savings against the potential inconvenience of longer layovers or additional connections. Ultimately, the best solution for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences.

I'm planning a trip to Albuquerque in June/July and while the flights don't seem expensive they are LONG!!! Shortest I can find is 8 hours some are over 24 hours I'm thinking due to long stop overs. Any tips on lessening the length
