Can you fly from Bellingham to Vegas with just your Nexus card?

Question:

If you cross the border by land with your Nexus card, fly out of Bellingham to Vegas, you don't need your Passport, do you? It's a domestic flight now.....

Humans say...

I would still bring the passport out of an abundance of caution.

You didn't produce your passport?

I've flown both Allegiant and Alaska this way without any problem.

Profile picture of Sarah

Sarah

So you only checked in with your nexus card only?

Profile picture of Angela

Angela

Yep that's right...used my nexus to get through security at bellingham, Vegas and palm springs airports with no problem at all (this was before Trump took over however...lol)

Thanks! I'm trying to help me friend. She's going to Vegas next week. She's got nexus but can't find her passport

I personally learned hard way...use your nexus but still have passport just in case..we were in Montreal flying using nexus but their nexus program was down. ..they let us go after we argued but they told us in future always have passport as secondary I'd. ..also everyone should update their passport info if it's been renewed etc. ..now nexus and passport is only for borders land or air...flying within USA or within Canada you only need valid government issued photo ID. ..doesn't matter what it is..nexus counts as ID at any airport in Canada and USA

Profile picture of Dana

Dana

Technically you're required to always carry your passport with your nexus when crossing the border, but she should be fine. Allegiant won't care since it's a domestic flight.

Profile picture of Sarah

Sarah

That's what I thought to. But, she just found it! Thank God

We crossed a few weeks ago with Nexus and flew from Bellingham to California on Allegiant. Allegiant didnt link our tickets to our Nexus passes and we had to show our passports. Didnt need them on the way back though.

Profile picture of Lisa

Lisa

You must have your passport to get into Vegas. I was almost turned back in Vegas for not having my passport. I spent an hour in secondary

Profile picture of Shawn

Shawn

This is incorrect. I have flown to Vegas from Bellingham 6 times with just my Nexus.

Profile picture of Lisa

Lisa

This was my personal experience. I had to go to 3 different officers to be allowed in at which time I was lectured about having to have my passport.

Profile picture of Sarah

Sarah

Luck of the draw, I guess

Profile picture of Dana

Dana

So many different answers...just tell her to call allegiant and ask them what their policy is. As far as the border i have called them and they told me i legally must always carry my passport with me any time i cross the border even if i have a nexus.

When I worked for air lines it didn't matter if it was domestic or not what matter was of you were in you country or not. Just because you have a nexus card doesn't make you a US citizen to travel thru there country freely. ....
Getting out of Canada is easy it's when you try to get back on the plane to come home is the problem not worth the risk in my books.

It's all good. My friend found her passport. Thanks for the info though!

Do I Need a Passport for a Nexus Card When Flying from Bellingham to Vegas?

If you have a Nexus card and are crossing the border by land, you may be wondering if you need your passport when flying from Bellingham to Vegas. The answer is no, you do not need your passport for this domestic flight.

When you have a Nexus card, you are already pre-screened and approved for travel between the US and Canada. This means that you can use your Nexus card as identification when flying domestically within the US, including from Bellingham to Vegas.

However, it is always a good idea to carry your passport with you when traveling internationally, even if you have a Nexus card. In case of any unforeseen circumstances or changes to your travel plans, having your passport on hand can be helpful.

So, in short, if you are flying from Bellingham to Vegas with your Nexus card, you do not need your passport for this domestic flight. Safe travels!
