Hi everyone, I have a question regarding visas, I'm doing a trip and am visiting the following places -Japan>Philippines>Singapore>Bali>Kuala lumpur, Malaysia>Cambodia>Thailand>India> Egypt and back to Toronto
Does anyone know if you are a Canadian citizen if you need a visa for any of these places?
From my knowledge I will need one for India.

For Egypt: Visa on Arrival - you'll need a tourist visa regardless of the amount of time you spend in the country, it's $15 or so and you get it on arrival at the airport there's a little kiosk that says "bank" and you buy it there with USD.

Cambodia and Thailand are on arrival. India you must apply in advance.

Ten hours is long enough, depends what you want to see, you could make it across town to see the Pyramids, it might be easiest to hire a driver at the airport for the day rather than take the subway across town.

Cambodia is also Visa on Arrival assuming that you are flying into Phnom Penh or Siem Reap, $20 or so and takes about 5 minutes. Border crossings may be different.

Hi, thanks for the awesome advice. I had a feeling it was only India that I needed to purchase a visa in advance but wasn't sure about Egypt. It's great that I can get them on arrival. I am flying into Cambodia-siem reap so that's on arrival too and 5 minutes is pretty short. I assume Egypt won't be as short. Hiring a taxi sounds like the safest idea in the sense that I will make it back on time for my flight. Any recommendations on must sees in Egypt? I assume the pyramids. What pricing should I expect for a day hire of a taxi and how long should I expect travel time? I have heard to I should arrive back to the airport 3 hours before my flight departs and give myself 2hours for traffic computing back to the airport from the pyramids. I was hoping to stop at a sheesha place. Thanks!

Make sure you have a re-entry visa for VN if you're returning after Cambodia. I literally had to bribe an official to get back in.

Cairo visa at airport. I was there last month, $25 for Canadian citizens. The airport is pretty strict, multiple security, one on entrance and one before the gate. Give yourself at least 2 hours. Giza (pyramids) is about 45 minutes no traffic from airport. I used shuttle and tour service by my accommodation's company (Guardian Guest House).

If you are applying for an Indian visa from here I have heard it can be a bureaucratic nightmare if you don't leave ample time for it. Someone I know had to push her trip back because it took a while to get it.

When you arrive at Siem reap airport make sure you have $25Usd cash or you have to use the ATM machine , everything in Siem reap is priced in USD ,

Philippines is on arrival, if you have to renew/extend you just have to go to a tourism office.
India visa (at least in my 2013 year experience) you had to get it before hand and is an absolute cup load of stress. I got mine at BLS (at Vic Park and Lawrence). If you need to get multiple visas before hand I would suggest get the Indian one first. But mind you, if your getting a tourist visa it, hopefully, shouldn't take too long.

Visa on arrival for Bali. I got a shakedown by Immigration on way out of the country. I bought a 7 day visa and left before the arrival hour on the 7th day and they claimed I overstayed my visa and I was escorted to an ATM to pay $65 in Indonesian Rupiah.

Turnaround time for India Visas is 15-21 days right now from the usual 5-10. Just dropped 2 applications last week. Make sure you are diligent in providing all the necessary documentation. They are very sgrict about requirement. Google BLS India Canada - they process all the applications for Toronto.

Pav for a day, if you prearrange it in advance with a local you'd be looking about $10/hour. I could probably put you in contact with a family cab driver that speaks English if needed but that's a ballpark of what you'd be paying. Egyptian Museum, often equated to a warehouse lol, is fascinating if Egyptian history is your thing and it's right downtown. Khan El Khalili Bazaar is a must see if middle eastern shopping/culture is what you want to see. You really will only have time for the Pyramids plus one other excursion (Saqqara is too far to do). Traffic in Cairo can be brutal as an FYI.

Do NOT count on getting the Indian visa back within 5 business days. It's dangerous to do so as your luck might not be on your end. I applied for mine was told it took 10 business days (and you must opt for courier service, you cannot do personal pick up at the visa office unless it's a medical emergency). It took well over 15 business days but at least I got my visa back on time. Since you don't need a plane ticket to apply for a visa, you might as well get it ASAP. I applied 1 month before my trip and just got it back a few days before I hop on the plane, so you can avoid unnecessary stress if you apply ahead. It also ranges from people to people - some people have had an awesome experience with the Indian visa office some people left very angry messages on tripadvisor. Just apply early and avoid the stress. Good luck.

When you land in Indonesia, it is 25 usd. Make sure you have Rupiah currency, before you leave the airport as you have to pay an exit fee.
There is none for Singapore and Thailand.
