Rome is just amazing, but not sure 2 days would be enough to even get a feel for it...but if you do be sure to really plan as there is so much to do. Gallerie Borghese is so stunning it is worth the visit for sure. http://galleriaborghese.beniculturali.it/it

Wendy ya I’m sure 2 days won’t be sufficient for a full and comprehensive visit of the city, we just want to see some highlights since we’re there anyway
will look into the gallery, thank you for the suggestion !!
Wendy
Shanza If you can spare the time for sure go see it. It was my favorite part of the whole trip...
Shanza
Wendy probably not this trip as we’re mainly going to the Coast but definitely in the future for sure !!!

Take the local bus from Positano to Ravello. What a nail biting experience! We had a lovely lunch on a hotel terrace overlooking the sea so beautiful! Wish I had bought the set of gorgeous dinnerware from a great ceramic shop I found there. You picked one of the most scenic places to visit in Italy...it is guaranteed to be memorable! Enjoy! Remember any thing you do or choose to visit even by accident will be amazing after all it’s Italy!

There is Sorrento for Tourists Facebook page that has a lot of information about Sorrento and area. I joined before I went in January, I was only there 3 days and can’t wait to go back. Sorrento is a good base, easy to get around from there. Ferry to Capri, train to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Napoli, buses or boats to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello.

We stayed at Dimora del Podesta (B&B) in Positano and LOVED them. Only 3 rooms, incredible views and we woke every morning to (included) fresh pastries, etc made right outside our door. The restaurant downstairs is also owned by the family and fantastic. Rome is a favorite city of ours, but I would concentrate on quality in the direct area. If you worry you will never return to Italy, then the train is high speed and efficient (we did Rome on another trip with a day trip to Naples/Pompeii and it was long, but totally doable).

Lucky you. Amalfi coast is gorgeous. Be careful in Naples, our tour guide warned about pick pockets and we witnessed a guy walking being mugged by two others in front of our "nice" hotel in broad daylight.

I would recommend staying in Montepertuso which is a little town above Positano. It is quiet and the view is beautiful. We stayed in a lovely airbnb. I would recommend you eat at Il Ritrovo- excellent food. There is a bus you can take to Positano and back (10 minutes) and if you are able, you could take the stairs down. There is also a nice little grocery & wine store. The people are lovely.

Hotel Oriente in Vico Equense. It’s right on the Circumvesuviana RR (Naples to Sorrento) so easy to get to Pompeii Herculaneum etc. Plus a lot of UofA courses are based there so they know and love Edmonton! Ask for a balcony.

I would leave Rome for another time and stay in the area. Take the train to Pompeii and Herculaneum. Massa Lubrense is a small community at the tip just a few km outside Sorrento and is a nice place to walk and enjoy the scenery.
Sandra
yes, go to Pompeii. Amazing!

Just a heads up if you are dining at any restaurants and they bring you menus without prices, make sure to ask for menus with the prices. We got ripped off big time as we didn't know that they charge you crazy prices. We know another couple that this happened to also, mostly in Rome

Paestum - easy to get to from where you will be and magnificent!

Depending on your travel style, I'm a firm believer in "travel like you're coming back". For me this means, stay put, immerse yourself in where you are and don't get distracted by that other amazing city a couple of hours away. But that's my approach. Rome is amazing, but 2 days away is actually at least 3 with travel.

Sorrento: Ulisse Deluxe Hostel - it's a hotel and very nice; Fuoro Restaurant (reservations recommended)
Rome: yes take two days. I recommend booking with tour groups to see the big sites - you skip line-ups and it gives you way more background than doing it yourself. Through Eternity tours was great.

Rome definitely!!

Exploring the Amalfi Coast and Rome: A Romantic Italian Getaway
The Amalfi Coast in Italy is a breathtaking destination that promises unforgettable memories for couples seeking a romantic getaway. With your itinerary spanning from June 10th to June 19th, you'll have ample time to immerse yourself in the region's stunning landscapes, delectable cuisine, and rich cultural heritage.
Accommodations on the Amalfi Coast
For a truly luxurious and unforgettable stay, consider booking a room at the Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa in Conca dei Marini. This former 17th-century monastery offers breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast and provides a serene and romantic ambiance. Alternatively, Airbnb offers a wide range of charming vacation rentals, from cozy apartments to luxurious villas, allowing you to experience the local lifestyle.
Dining Delights
The Amalfi Coast is a culinary paradise, renowned for its fresh seafood, homemade pasta, and locally grown produce. For an unforgettable dining experience, make reservations at Lo Sperenzio in Praiano, where you can savor exquisite dishes while enjoying panoramic views of the coast. In Positano, Casa Grande is a must-visit for its authentic Neapolitan pizza and warm hospitality.
Amalfi Coast Activities and Views
No visit to the Amalfi Coast is complete without exploring the charming towns that dot the coastline. Spend a day in Positano, wandering through its colorful streets and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Take a boat tour to the picturesque island of Capri, where you can explore the famous Blue Grotto and enjoy the stunning views from the Gardens of Augustus. In Amalfi, visit the impressive Duomo di Amalfi and stroll along the scenic waterfront promenade. Don't miss the opportunity to hike the Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods), a breathtaking trail that offers panoramic views of the coastline.
A Day Trip to Rome
While the Amalfi Coast is undoubtedly a highlight of your trip, taking a day or two to explore Rome could be a rewarding addition. Rome, the Eternal City, is a treasure trove of historical landmarks, art, and culture. Visit the iconic Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Vatican City, home to St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. With efficient high-speed train connections, you can easily travel from Naples to Rome and back, allowing you to experience the best of both worlds.
Remember to pack comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and a camera to capture the stunning views and moments that will make this trip truly unforgettable. Buon viaggio!

Travelling to Italy in June with my husband, we fly in to Naples early AM on June 10th & depart mid-afternoon on June 19th. We’re primarily going to spend time on the Amalfi coast so any reccos for food, hotels/air bnbs, activities, views & general tips would be super appreciated !!
Also, would it be worth it to take out 2 days for Rome? Or will we need the entire time on the Coast? Planning to go through Sorrento, spend a whole day & night on Capri, spend time in Positano, and see Praiano, Amalfi, & Ravello too!
