Well I suppose it depends on where you’re staying since Huatulco is a whole are. I googled this explanation. Huatulco is a resort region in the Mexican state of Oaxaca with white Pacific coast beaches. The region is made up of 9 bays, including the popular cruise-ship port of call Santa Cruz Bay. Tangolunda Bay is home to upscale resort hotels and a golf course. In the inland community of La Crucecita, there are restaurants and shops around a central plaza. ― Google
So are you in the town or at a resort on one the bays?
Melissa
Cathy I'll be staying at the Barcelo
Cathy
Melissa I made a red arrow where Barcelo is. From your resort you’d have to take a taxi to town.
Melissa
Cathy thank you appreciate the information!

Melissa you can walk everywhere, it’s only about 3/4 hr walk from Barcelo to the main square in La Crucecita, there are live bands that play & lots of things to see & do since it’s the Christmas season it will be very busy lots of night life! you are in Tangalunda area there are bars & restaurants all around there too, they are across from the resorts , Santa Cruz is about 1 hr walk beautiful beach lots of restaurants on the beach , cabs are cheap, easy to flag one down , highly recommended walking around & meeting the beautiful people of Huatulco! There are 9 bays & 36 beaches , some are only water access , it’s actually a very small footprint in the big picture ! Enjoy

Hi, I would suggest joining the Facebook Groups “Huatulco Whats Up Happening community” and “Solo Friends Huatulco”. There is a “Meet Up” group that advertise on those sights.
Melissa
Helen thanks I'll check out those groups

I haven't been there yet, but have done quite a bit of research on the area for an upcoming trip. As Cathy mentioned, La Crucecita is the larger community closest to the airport. And then as you head west down the road, the notable communities are:
a) Zipolite: most famous for their 'clothing optional' beaches. My guess is there is a fair bit of nightlife here, but it depends on what sort of nightlife atmosphere you're into.
And then if you keep going west a little further you have...
b) Mazunte & San Agustinillo (they are practically right beside each other). As I say, I haven't been there yet, but I get the feeling that Mazunte is a more bohemian, backpacker vibe, probably with the most solo travellers, while San Agustinillo might be a little more in the other direction (perhaps more couples on vacation, little more upscale, etc). I don't think either have nightlife anywhere near the scale you find in more touristy areas of Mexico.
Back in La Crucecita I'm guessing this area pictured in the screenshot has a lot of the nightlife spots (Zocalo La Crucecita) near La Crema Bar.
Here's my map of things to do, descriptions of the various beaches, restaurants that looked good, etc: https://tinyurl.com/2nscsm8e

As its holiday season there will be a lot going on, there’s lots of pubs around the square in La Crucecita and always lots of fun.
My parents winter there & there’s lots of Cdns, you’ll have a great time, people are friendly
Carol
Jillanna I’m interested in the wintering there. Are there certain areas recommended by your parents where the Canadians go. Condo complexes?
Carol
Your resort probably has a pub crawl or pub bus, most do. Safety in numbers.
Melissa
Carol yes I'm with you on that one.

While in La Crucecita check outplayed Crema for their excellent pizza. The place had a cool vibe!
