Looking for Seat Sales to Toronto: WestJet vs. Air Canada in July/August?

Oppps my bad, it is actually RBC Mastercard!! You get 1 companion flight per year for $99.00.
Roberta
I did this a few years ago and paid for my Dad and i to go to Toronto. I used my westjet dollars and the companion fare, found a seat sale. I paid a few hundred out of my own pocket for the flights. I used it again last year to go to San Francisco. Plus you get a free checked bag.
Francine
They now do one companion flight a year ...$99 Canada / $199 North America / $299 Hi and Europe

RBC westjet mc is great ! Free luggage too if flight booked on the Mastercard! Worth the $99/year!
Joyce
We didn't need to pay using my RBC westjet MC. It does provide out of province/Country medical ins and other insurance if you do. Good to check the benefits. All adds up.
Jm
You shouldn't book domestic more then two months ahead of time
Karen
Following as I also need to fly to yyz end of august.

Down load the Skip Lagged app. There are amazing deals. Great way to get from Vancouver to Toronto. But you can't have checked luggage
Bethany
I like the westjet card. Also watch for sign up deals. They normally offer $50 for signing up but I've seen 200 offered as well. If you use it for all your purchases then the 99fee is ok. Plus free luggage!
Natasha
I didn't read all comments but check new leaf air. Cheap cheap.
Anne
Save on more visa is 2.9% back. If you book through them you get points on your bookings. They will match any prices you find and you can use what ever save on more points towards your flight in $50 increments .
The points add up quick when you are just shopping for groceries.
Christin
Lots of great ideas and suggestions! Thanks, everyone!

The west jet mastercard is a great way to go. west jet usually always has seat says i would wait until they have another one to book. I just booked a 2 flights to toronto from Vancouver one in March for $484 and 2 in May which was $505 and then i have the credit card so the 2nd fair was $99. you also save because you get 2 free luggage and when you sign up west jet gives you $250/to use off the base fairs so look into that.
Jodi
I know you mentioned you wanted a direct flight but gonewleaf.ca has a sale on now for flights from Abbottsford to Hamilton for $79.00
Christin
I'll check it out.
Heather
Hopper just let me know westjet has a seat sale on right now! Best prices I've seen in a long time
Christin
I'll look at that too, thank you.

^^ $446 CAD roundtrip including taxes. Available on pretty much every date from May to October. Non-stop flights on westjet. They dropped this morning.
Christin
Is that about as cheap as it gets usually for summer flights?
Rebekah
I'm originally from Toronto now based in BC and we fly back often. Your not going to beat $446. Unless you fly newleaf. $446 is a good deal!
Kate
If you're willing to fly newleaf go to gojumpon and bid on the flight. My mum's bid for Hamilton>Abbotsford over Easter was just accepted at $202 roundtrip!
Christin
How does that work? I can't even pull up a New Leaf summer schedule? Nothing past end of April.
Christin
But awesome deal for your mom!
Chris
New Leaf summer fares are not available yet.
Christin
Kate, thanks. Have not heard of that Group before.
Kate
I actually have a referral code. Pm me if you would like it. We might both get a discount. But I'm not sure if Chris is cool with my sharing that here
Chris
Great price! That's less than half of the current fare price on the New Leaf site.

Saving Money on Flights to Toronto
If you're planning a trip to Toronto this July or August, you're probably looking for ways to save money on flights. Here are a few tips:
- Check for seat sales. WestJet and Air Canada often have seat sales for travel during the summer months. Be sure to check their websites regularly for the latest deals.
- Consider getting the WestJet MasterCard. For $99, the WestJet MasterCard comes with a companion voucher that can be used to purchase a second ticket for $99. This can be a great way to split the cost of your flight.
- Fly on off-peak days. If you're flexible with your travel dates, consider flying on off-peak days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Flights on these days are typically cheaper than flights on weekends.
- Pack light. If you can get by with just a carry-on bag, you can save money on checked baggage fees.
- Book your flight in advance. The sooner you book your flight, the more likely you are to get a good deal. Aim to book your flight at least a few months in advance.
- Consider flying into a nearby airport. If you're flying into Toronto, consider flying into Pearson International Airport (YYZ) or Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ). YYZ is the larger and more popular airport, but YTZ is often cheaper. You can then take a short train or bus ride into downtown Toronto.
By following these tips, you can save money on your flights to Toronto and have more money to spend on your trip.

Starting to plan trip to Toronto area this July or August. I really would rather not pay $800 each. Do westjet or air canada usually have seat sales for that time period? Is it worth it to get the westjet MasterCard for $99 in order to get the companion voucher for $99? Any other ideas to save money on flights?(I'd so much rather be flying elsewhere for that amount of money
but family commitment).
Thanks for your input.
