Insurance works differently in Canada. You will buy insurance through the rental car agency. Just make sure you tell them you're planning to drive to Canada.
Mandi
I would call to confirm you can cross the border. Not all rental companies allow it. As for your credit card also call them to see what they actually cover.
Sue
I've done it several times with no problem at all from Seattle airport to Vancouver airport. Most rental companies offer one way rentals and if you do it well enough in advance its a reasonable price. I also just used the insurance through my credit card.
Brendan
Drop the car of somewhere near the border and take a bus to Vancouver then rent another car here.
Dave
If ure canadian u can't drive a American car over
Sue
I'm Canadian and have done this often, most recently just in April.
Dave
Cbsa says u cant
Sue
That's strange...I've always advised CBSA and never had an issue.
Mar
how about taking the BoltBus from Seattle Int'l district and you end up in Vancouver Main Street station. from that point, rent car
Alex
You can't drive a American Car in Canada that is NOT a rental if you are Canadian , CBSA deems it imported , however you CAN drive a rental if the ontract is arrnged as such.

We rented a car from Hertz in Seattle, up the street from Pikes Market. They charge an extra $100 + tax to bring it across the border and drop it off to a location here. We have done this 3 times and have had no problem. When we crossed the border they just requested to see the rental papers. We have never had a problem.
Andrea
Never have had a problem At all. Sometimes you get charged a premium for crossing international border. But it's usually reasonable
Colin
Call CBSA information line or just call the border and when you give them all your information what you are planning on doing, get the officers badge number and the information in writing.
Sharron
We rented a car in Canada that originated from US. We paid $50 to return it to Budget at Seattle airport. We had booked a flight out of Seattle but back into Vancouver so worked for us.
María
Make sure you pay for the rental with the same credit card that offers you the insurance otherwise it does not cover you.

Renting a Car in Seattle and Driving to Vancouver
Hi everyone!
If you're planning on renting a car in Seattle and driving it to Vancouver, there are a few things you need to know.
- Check with your rental company. Most rental companies will allow you to drive their cars into Canada, but there may be some restrictions. For example, some companies may charge a daily fee for driving into Canada. Others may require you to purchase additional insurance.
- Get a Canadian Non-Resident Insurance Card. This is a temporary insurance policy that will cover you while you're driving in Canada. You can purchase a Non-Resident Insurance Card from any insurance company in Canada. It's important to note that your rental insurance from your credit card will not cover you in Canada.
- Be aware of the border crossing procedures. When you cross the border into Canada, you will need to stop at the border crossing station. You will need to show your passport and your Non-Resident Insurance Card to the border guard. The border guard may also ask you to open your trunk and inspect your vehicle.
- Follow the rules of the road. The rules of the road in Canada are similar to the rules of the road in the United States. However, there are a few differences. For example, the speed limit in Canada is 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour) on highways and 50 kilometers per hour (31 miles per hour) in cities.
By following these tips, you can help ensure that your trip to Vancouver is a safe and enjoyable one.

Hi everyone! sorry this isn't about any deal but I really need some help!!
Has anybody rented a car from Seattle and driven to Vancouver before? I'm renting a car in Seattle in July and planning on driving it back to Canada. Is there any restrictions about this? I don't own a car in Canada, so I don't have an insurance card. I only have rental insurance from my credit card. Anything I need to be careful of? Thanks guys! You guys have been really helpful!
