Maracas beach.....bit of a drive so don’t know if you plan on renting a car. Try to make it to Tobago for a few days.....beautiful
Anna
Tobago is much more vacation/beachy. If that’s what you’re looking for, I would stay there. Great diving! You’ll probably need to rent a car to get around, definitely on Trinidad. Trinidad isn’t as set up for tourism. Port of Spain isn’t that interesting itself, but has a good food stall corner at the Queen’s Park, Savannah. Go to Maracas Beach and eat some bake and shark. It’s possible to get there by maxi taxi and public bus. Caroni Swamp is cool. Drive down south to visit the asphalt lake and water temple. Yerette is a hummingbird sanctuary that is interesting. If it’s turtle season, go see the turtles nesting or hatching.
Delicious food!! Eat lots of roti, buss up shot, saheena, doubles, chow, pholorie
.
I lived in Port of Spain for two months doing a practicum, so feel free to ask me any questions.
Sarah
Amazing! Thank you so much! Ill for sure hit you up with more questions closer to the time. I go in July.

I was born there and have fond memories. Maracas Beach, San Fernando, and a trip to the pitch is a must on the Island of Trinidad. Tobago is an awesome place. Try to find a place that makes Roti .also try to find a place little store and purchase some tamarind balls. If you are able to find them I may have to twist your hand. I do miss them
Pete
Toco another beautiful place to visit. I only ask you to be very careful while visiting Trinidad. Keep in touch. I am on messenger
Pete
Anna I lived on Trinidad for 7 years and highly recommend your recommendations .I lived on Ascot Rd real close to Goodwood park.

Tobago is the best!!

Don't go. Pay for a plane ticket and accommodation for your friend Luke instead.

Born and raised there and return every year. Accommodation in Trinidad - I'd recommend you stay in a hotel. It's safer that way - Hilton, Hyatt, Courtyard Mariott. If not, stay in the North West (Westmoorings, St. Clair, Maraval). I don't know exactly what you're looking for. We have lots of beaches. Personally I'm not a huge fan of Maracas cuz I'm a local and we like to go to the lesser known beaches. (Message me if you want to know more). Lots of beautiful hikes and waterfalls but I highly recommend you do not go by yourself. Hire a guide (who I can also recommend) and go with a group of people. Walk around the Savannah in the day and go to the food stalls at night. Visit a panyard and hear the sweet sounds of our national instrument. If you can, take a boat ride 'down d islands'. Other touristy things - Asa Wright Nature Centre, Pitch Lake. Eat doubles, shrimp and bake (instead of shark because you know... stop killing them), roti, callalloo, stew chicken, pholourie, mango chow, sous, curry, breadfruit.
Tobago - stay near Crown Point or Mt. Irvine. Beaches/areas of interest - Store Bay (overcrowded with locals that sometimes bother you), Pigeon Point Beach (my fave), Grafton Beach, Mt. Irvine Beach. Take a drive to Castara, Englishmans Bay, Speyside. Theres an easy waterfall on the way called Argyle Falls that's beautiful. It's a very windy drive through the mountains. Driving is crazy at times. Go scuba diving in Crown Point or Speyside. Tobago has some of the most vibrant, untouched coral and marine life in the world. Honestly, just message me if you have questions. I can go on for days.
Sarah
Amazing! Thank you! I will message you closer to the date!
Carrie
Just got back from there. I've been 3 times as my husband's dad was born there and he still has family. I agree with the the other recommendations above. I would also suggest that you visit a Pan Yard if they're still practicing. Phase 2 pan grove is in a safe area.
A visit to Tobago is must. Fly over its cheap & quick. We stayed at the Crowne point resort which is a quick walk from the airport. The rooms are equipped with a kitchen. There is a grocery store a 50 TT ride away. Food recommendations in the area would be Kenny's doubles near the airport, the store bay steak & lobster grill and the cafe across from the airport. Most places are within walking distance. Check trip advisor for places to visit in Tobago.
Karen
Tobago! Stay at the Crowne at Store Bay. Take a lagoon cruise to the Orinoco Flow! Pidgen Point Beach is really pretty. Hire a boat and go snorkling and do go to a “Sunday School” on Sunday night!
