Have you checked out singles travel groups?
Penny
Yes, tips from Janice Waugh, Solo travelers.
Trina
I’ve done cruises but nothing solo however it would be a great idea if there were group options for this! Some adult only resorts but tend to be couples mostly. Update the thread if you find anything good luck
Jean
Cruising is Great however I wouldn’t comfortable you recommend that just yet….. Maybe try Tigh Na Mara Resort in Parksville area…. Beautiful Beaches, great Day Trip Areas near by…..
Ron
Call a travel agent and ask which places don’t have a single supplement. Or a group tour can be fun too. G Adventures etc when solo
Rosey
I second G Adventures or Intrepid for solo trips.
Laura
Cabo- Hyatt Ziva resort. Good mix of solo, adults and families. Short flight and great resort. Don’t do a cruise solo, it’s super expensive as you have to pay 2 person price and it’s not worth it.
Lory
Not true Laura. Norwegian cruiselines has had solo sections in many of their ships for over 10 years now making it affordable for solo traveller's to cruise and I'm sure there are other cruise lines doing similiar.
Jean
Lory yes, I agree
Sylvie
Lory true, and Norwegian is a relaxed atmosphere, great solo rooms
Lory
Yes I loved it when I went Sylvie. Great room, access to a solo traveler's lounge. Excellent price. Would love to do another trip.

I’ve gone solo on a number of G Adventure tours and always had a great time and met amazing people.

Carol
2nd this!
Lyn
I third this! I've done three tours with them (South Africa, Costa Rica, Vietnam). G Adventure tours always have some solo travellers. They will either pair you up or you can pay a single supplement to have your own room. I have met a couple of fabulous friends that I now travel with because they were my roommate, but I've also ended up with my own room because everyone else on the tour had either paid for their own room or were travelling with someone. No idea if they are better or worse than other groups, but I've been happy.
Carole
I have been travelling solo for 10 years and love going to an all inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Everyone is always kind and helpful and I feel very safe.
Meesh
Carole Do you have a specific resort to recommend?
Carole
Meesh My favourite is Iberostar Playa Mita my second choice is Now Amber and then Barcelo. The Sheriton is also good.
Brent
I literally just heard from the travel agent and I think I'll be going for 10 days to Cancun. Thanks everyone!
Trina
Brent what resort did they recommend??
Brent
Trina the Barcelo.. It's a package that gives me access to all four resorts so I'm pretty sure I can find a decent time somewhere.
Trina
Brent I’ve been told a fun vibe is at Temptations resort on the strip maybe check it out.
Brent
Trina haha. I'm sure it is.
Carole
Brent I have been to the Barcelo resort in Puerto Vallarta and I really liked it, super rooms and plenty of pool chairs
Raveen
Brent I live part time in Playa del Carmen and go down there solo all the time (I own two small Apts in town). There's so much going on down in these places you can find peoe to hang with or socialize just by remaining open. Find a Facebook group near where you will be and ask if there's any expat what's app meetup groups and then dive in.
Last winter while everyone was locked down here and told not to socialize, I had events planned every night down there, from taco crawls. Investment group meet up's, personal development classes, yoga, crypto meetups, coworking events, pool parties, rooftop socials, Spanish lessons, animal welfare and dog walking..... And in weekends, excursions galore. Don't be shy, live your life - it's freer there than here.
Jan
Brent Just be aware, you can't swim at some of the resorts on the waterfront as too dangerous. I think there are better places to go. Also, some companies are waving the solo supplement.
Brent
Jan I'm more of a pool summer than open water swimmer but thanks anyways.
Johnny
Brent Mexico would be a way better destination than anywhere in Canada right now. After being trapped in for almost a year and a half
Cindi
I personally book my fights and hotels. If you want to go with a package you will have to pay the single supplement fee. Cruising is a great option! I've done a cruise on NCL southern carribean and had a great time! They have a solo lounge where you can meet other solo travelers. I did my own thing at each port and met up with a group for dinners. We usually had up to 10 p meeting! Also just to be advised if you are a mixed vaccine person you may not be able to go cruising at this time. And check the policies for wherever you decide to go to make sure they accept mixed vaccines.
have fun!
Brent
Cindi I'm not even mixed. I'm golden and pretty much booked. Thanks!
Barb
Brent Please stay safe...I usually go solo to Puerto Vallarta 1-2 each year but haven't been because of covid...have plans for the fall but I might have to cancel as covid number's are rising out of control & hospitals full!
Brent
Barb I usually don't run around being unsafe so I guess I'm alright by default. Thanks though..
Cindi
Brent great!
Irene
Brent every single plane ride is primarily full of sick people, not just covid, so beware. It's not just your destination.
Irene
Jean My daughter spent time in the Gibsons area & loved it so much.
Lynne
I love cruising. I travelled solo for 10 years and loved it. So easy to meet people on a ship. Vacationstogo.com is the top cruise seller in the world. They are advertising some MSC cruises this fall with no single supplement
Leslie
Lynne who are you paying for this post

Mexico!
Wendy
Just had our Caribbean cruise canceled for next spring. They are taking it slow in booking passengers to see how it goes. They recently had to let off passengers who tested positive with Covid at next port and arrange travel home.
Debbie
Which cruise line we are booked for Caribbean as well in Spring
Wendy
Royal Caribbean
Brenda
Wendy I am surprised that they are canceling next spring bookings already? We are booked ( for the third time) to Japan next April and we are hoping....fingers crossed.....that it takes place. Although the current information out of Japan is not reassuring
Greg
Brenda You are surprised but your fingers are crossed??
Sandy
Wendy we have a Caribbean cruise booked in February 2022 on Princess, haven’t heard anything about cancellations. Just curious why RC would cancel so early? TIA
Wendy
Sandy they say they’re introducing one ship at a time. First ship had passengers tested positive. Giving us 125% credit.
Jodi
I would highly recommend G Adventures for solo travel!! It’s worth asking about the demographics of the group — you are allowed to have very general information about the other travellers in the group which helps if you’re going solo. Might not want a group with all pairs or families, etc. They do allow teens and no age max and that can seriously affect an experience so always worth asking.
pro tip!
Devon
Cruise ship=floating bowl of germs.
Holly
Devon agreed, I had wanted to go on before Covid but no, no thank you. I've also since learned they're incredible polluters and you're at risk of sexual violence nobody will do anything about in international waters
Kerren
Holly I've gone on two ship expeditions with Adventure Canada - one around Newfoundland and another to the Antarctic. Fewer than 200 passengers with many singles. They have cabins to share with other singles or if you book early enough there is no single supplement. I'm going with them next year to Atlantic provinces. No one was at risk of sexual violence! I have no idea where you got that idea. For those who want to see the BC coast Marine Link Tours has barge trips - sold out for 2021 but are taking bookings for 2022.
Lyndamae
Kerren hi i am totally interested in the details if u could pm me please... great adventure
Andrea
feel free to message me, I’m a travel consultant. Saves you the time of endless searching, and I likely can get you a better deal and if there did happen to be any issue… I deal with it not you just sayin
Brent
Andrea thx. Unfortunately I posted this days ago and it just got approved. I've got someone on it... Next time though.
Andrea
Brent no worries, thanks for your reply
Holly
A resort vacation is really nice for that, there is even a chain of singles resorts called Breathless resorts! Or go to an adults only like the Secrets resorts. You might want to be careful you don't go to a super family friendly one if you don't like kids. You can always make pool friends, and if you're a little outgoing you can probably get resort adopted by a family. They're really great, I personally recommend the AMR brand of resorts, as they have free wifi, no wristbands, and no reservations at restaurants
Brent
Holly that's awesome, thanks! The reason I actually opted to go alone was because I make friends easily. I straight up told my friends that I wasn't taking anyone. The only humans I want around me are newly met ones.
Maggie
Haven’t been , but heard great things about Croatia
my son is heading there next week
Lonne
Croatia is one of my favorite places I have travelled too !!!
Sue
Maggie they have sailing shops you can travel on. We were on a very good tour. The guide on the bus was very knowledgeable and there was a local guide at each site we stopped at.
Maureen
Have travelled as a si ngle most of my life and most companies charge what can be a ridiculous supplement. Unless you are cruising ncl epic, you will pay 100 percent more for a cabin since prices presume 2 people are in there. I just booked a gorgeous all inclusive swim out suite at the grand sunset princess for early january in playa del carmen. A decent price considering what you get. Other similar hotels were a lot more. Consideri ng covid.. on a cruise you are very close to others and therecis no room atound the poo everything is close quarters on a cruise. I have been on 30 cruises and would not go again since there are so many lovely places that you would want to spend more than a few hours at before heading out again.
Sarah
I cruised on my own to the Caribbean with Holland America and LOVED it!
Barry
Be careful, US based cruise lines are not recognizing vaccinations if they are from different brands.
Chris
As a solo I would start checking out group travel. Sign up for emails for offers. Tons of certain age group travel out there.
A good alt. is an all inclusive if you like a beach type experience. Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba so many possibilities. Checkout Travel Best Bets. Travelzoo. sunwing. expedia. Go see a travel agent in your area for ideas too.
Lynne
EF tours abroad are so good
Julie
If you enjoy indulging in a few or 10 cocktails daily I would go with an all inclusive. Alcohol on a cruise is very expensive.
Coles
Newfoundland
Daniel
Brent, I highly recommend the RIU Palace Los Cabos, Mexico
Any questions, feel free to PM me.

Even though I have a partner, I love traveling solo. I've done a 5 week South American cruise coming out of Vancouver, BC & ending up in Buenos Aires. It was spectacular!
I've done tours with Rick Steves that have been fun! And I've travelled alone making my own itineraries in the places I've visited.
Like many things in life, plan to have fun & meet new people & have adventures & you will!

Check out Get West adventures we did the Uchuck lll from Gold River to Nootka Sound, Esperanza Inlet and Kyuquot Sound. Such an amazing experience. Try and go when the trip is not completely booked. Gold River is a sweet town, definitely have to go to the pub

I've decided that I need a vacation. Recommendations for a resort for people going solo? I've never done a cruise and I'm contemplating that as an option if anyone has an opinion on that as well. Thanks in advance!
