Mt baldy in the Okanagan. Hidden gem.
Laura
Lol. Canada is the second biggest country in the world. Could you narrow it geographically?
Karl

Laura haha. Well, something that makes sense from Vancouver for a long weekend with a family. In my mind that means less than 8 hours total travel time, probably less than 6 even better, and budget-doable for someone who is not a millionaire…
Norma
Join the Alpine Club of Canada and look for an available mountain hut to ski / skin up to. There are other hut systems too depending where you look, ACC is just one. I've taken my dog touring and stayed in a reserved hut.
Tricia
British Columbia of course.
Lynda
Hemlock Mountain

Canadian Family Adventure for February Long Weekend
If you're looking for a peaceful and budget-friendly Canadian family adventure over the long weekend in February, we have the perfect suggestion for you!
Option 1: Cross-Country Skiing with Dogs
One of the best ways to enjoy the winter wonderland of Canada without crowds or traffic is to go cross-country skiing on public trails. Many trails across Canada allow dogs and do not require tickets, making it a perfect option for a budget-friendly adventure.
Recommended Destination: Canmore, Alberta
Canmore offers stunning views of the Rocky Mountains and has a variety of cross-country skiing trails that are dog-friendly. You can rent ski equipment in town and hit the trails for a day of fun with your family and furry friends.
Option 2: Ice Skating on Frozen Lakes
Another great activity for the long weekend is ice skating on frozen lakes. Many lakes in Canada offer natural ice rinks that are perfect for skating with your family. Just make sure to check the ice conditions before heading out!
Recommended Destination: Banff National Park, Alberta
Banff National Park has several frozen lakes that are popular for ice skating, such as Lake Louise and Vermilion Lakes. You can enjoy the stunning scenery while gliding across the ice with your loved ones.
Option 3: Snowshoeing in National Parks
If you prefer a slower-paced adventure, snowshoeing in national parks is a great option. You can explore the winter landscapes at your own pace and enjoy the tranquility of nature.
Recommended Destination: Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario
Algonquin Provincial Park offers a variety of snowshoeing trails that are perfect for families. You can rent snowshoes at the visitor center and embark on a snowy adventure through the park's forests and frozen lakes.
Whatever adventure you choose, we hope you have a fantastic long weekend in February with your family!
