Question:

I'm looking for advice and feedback regarding ESIM use for Mexico travel. I will be there for 2 weeks but I need to be able to make/receive calls, so the popular choice airalo is out. any feedback or opinions would be appreciated. $16 a day through Bell is my alternative option. Not fond of that idea lol! my phone doesn't have a sim card spot only esim compatable.

We have a Mexico AT&T plan - works great for North America. They also have monthly pay as you go. Same with telcel but their support service is horrible. Another option is downloading Fongo - is a VoIP service. You pick your number and can make and receive Canadian calls. They also have add on services to purchase.

Telus and bell have usa can Mex plans now. I have used airalo and it does work good but you won't have access to your number. But can use apps like textnow to text /call and WhatsApp/Facebook for data calls

I get at Telecel simcard at the corner Xoxo store. 3GB of data valid for 30 days on the sin limite plan (unlimited) costs 200 pesos (US$10.) That will also give you unlimited calls, texts, and most social media within North America.

Telus has a Canada USA Mexico plan - upgrading cost the same amount as one day of easy roam and I will dowgrade when i get home. I would assume Bell has something similar to stay competitive.

Rogers has one too for Mexico, USA and Canada… it was cheaper than our Bell plan and since we didn’t upgrade our devices it’s a month-to-month contract we can cancel anytime if we don’t like it

I just learned this last week and I don't know much about it, but apparently phones sold in Canada still have physical sim trays but those sold in the US do not. If you google this, Canadian sold apple phones still have physical sim trays and I believe most androids do as well. Granted you'd have a different phone number, but would still be able to make she receive calls.
